Sounds (eg. Mobs / Portals / Water) Don't Immediately Fade

When you have built a Nether portal and are within it's vicinity, so you can hear it's sounds. When you press ESC the sounds take a couple of seconds to stop playing. This problem can also be found with mobs and liquid-related noises as well as others.

As do most other sounds.

Present in 1.5.1

All sounds do that, but most of them are so short that you can't notice it.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Maybe it's the composer/sound designer in me, but the audio implementation in Minecraft is very primitive. This particular issue, while certainly present, is actually the least of my concerns with regards to sound and sfx implementation in Minecraft. The whole thing needs an overhaul, just like the graphics engine to fix the lighting/rendering issues that pervade it.

@Nathanael Tronerud I agree that currently the sound in Minecraft is very unfinished. It has been stated that it is being worked on, but no improvements have been made really since they were implemented.
