Vein sizes bigger than "size" setting when customized

I created a custom world, where I set Iron Ore spawn size to 36 (default is 9) and spawn tries to 5 (default is 20). My expectation was that iron ore would show up less often, but in larger groups, so it would balance out.

Instead, I'm regularly finding veins that are way larger than 36. I just found one that was 114 total. At first I figured that ore veins sometimes clump together, but I think this way beyond that.

I use iron as an example, but I see the same thing with other ores. I set Coal to size 50 with 7 spawn count. I just dug 230 out of one vein, and I stopped mining because I didn't see an end to it.

If you have limited the upper and lower bound of the ores, you may see merged veins.

Please attach the customization preset string.

I should have thought to post the preset.

The only boundaries I changed were for Diamonds. I haven't explored enough yet to see how diamond ore has been affected.

Actually with the size you showed this would be very expected as there are 180 possible iron in one chunk, since the sizes are huge perhaps you got lucky and found a clump. You should also take in account that if they accord next to other chunks there will obviously be a large amount.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.
