If you copy the seed to the clipboard, you cannot paste it in the seed box when generating the world, therefore you must type it manually.

Possible side-effect of MC-2292? No clue, I'm just throwing things out there.
Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Cannot reproduce in 1.8.7 OS X 10.10.3
Kion Tupper hasn't responded at all yet too, so probably best to close this.
I am seeing this same in 1.9.2 - Fedora 23 linux
[rhudson@tiros ~]$ java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_91"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_91-b14)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.91-b14, mixed mode)
I can't paste into the seed field or the world name field (I generate names and usually use the same for the initial seed)
I can paste the info into gedit. but ctrl-v and shift-ctrl-v do not paste into Minecraft.
Unable to reproduce, in Ubuntu 14.04, using Ctrl + v for pasting.
