When my inventory is full and there are item drops laying around it acts like everything is being picked up but items don't show up in inventory since it is full. Not sure if this was the way it was intended to work or not.
Before the Survival Inventory was accessible in creative items would lye on the floor if the inventory was full. That was changed in Beta 1.9pre5, so that the player would pick up items no matter how full the inventory is. Now that the inventory is accessible this behaviour should be reconsidered, since the inventory can be easily cleared.

There was a time where it was impossible to pick items up with full inventory, but that was changed, so intended.
I really think this behavior needs to be changed, intended or not.
A player just lost two chests of items after they broke one open while I was stood next to them with creative mode creative mode active.
While I can see that it is convenient for cleaning up, it's a 'feature' that would work just as well implemented as a console command that clears the inventory.
For feature suggestions/changes please use the MineCraft Forums: Suggestions.
Would it not be more appropriate to re-open the ticket, and let one of the developers confirm if it's intended or not?
Black holing items without confirmation seems like it has a significant chance of being a regression, especially as:
it wasn't documented in any of the changelogs
/clear exists
Its unfortunate that it removes the items, but can't you just clear up inventory space? I do not want to see this change as it makes it easy to clear up a large amount of item drops without having to clear your inventory. I support kbk's suggestion for an option to turn that on/off. Currently, I would not like to have to store all of my custom command blocks in a chest so I can insta clear the inventory just to pick up item drops that I don't need.
This is convenient for cleaning things up. I don't know if it's intended.
