Randomly, holes as seen in the pictures spawn in the ground. You cannot go inside of them or anything, but it bugs out when you try to go in it, as there is a floor that is not appearing. Mobs walk through it just fine, but players can't go inside of it without bugging out. If I reenter the world, it removes the hole, but places it somewhere else. In the picture with the biggest hole, It started as a square. As I began to build a house, it became HUGE.

Does it go away when you exit and enter the world again?
If not! Please zip up your world and provide it as a download for me so I can take a look what is going wrong π (you can drop it on mediafire/dropbox orso)

I will get the world up ASAP for you via MediaFire

Looks like MC-2545.
It shouldn't be, I did some major internal changes that could cause this to happen. I'm unable to find a situation where it happens sofar myself though. So I need a world that has these issues so I can attempt to resolve them. Waiting for @unknown now π

Sorry, Grum, Media Fire was being poop and didn't want to upload it. I guess I will try dropbox later when I'm on my PC
Are you having any success with Dropbox? I still hope to get a look to see if I can reproduce the problem in your world.
Thanks π

Question: Does that occur in a freshly/new world, created in d-snapshot?
Or is it an "old", already existing world?
I recall such a bug from long long time ago (~4 years), caused by generating too much land in far away chunks which somehow corrupted not only a part of that far away chunk, but could also swap to chunks close to the Spawn somehow. - Is probably not related, wanted to mention it regardless, just in case.
Something obvious, but still: On picture 1 and 4, where the uploader is directly above the missing chunk, it says "Biome Ocean" which always is displayed per default when e.g. teleporting to an unloaded chunk which didn't generate yet.
As for free online storage: I store my stuff on mega.co.nz, 50GB free, no issues.

I just made a fresh new world, and the first thing I saw in the world was this: http://prntscr.com/8889w0
I'm on Windows 10, using Java 8 Update 51.

You can also just open a void world with "3;0;" as superflat parameter and get the same effect... The emtpy chunks aren't loading correctly with the sinking down slowly effect, etc... And once you place a block in an empty chunk the block first becomes invisible till you either update it, or reload the world. The chunk also stops being buggy in concern of not being loaded correctly after you reload the world, since now the chunk isn't empty anymore. Then all that's left in that chunk are weird lightbugs from sunlight (like have 3 blocks on top of each other, reload world, remove middle block and inside is rendered black), that only fixes once you reload the world again... Hope you manage to fix all that... it's kinda anoying in my void world... good luck!

Well yeah on 1.5.2 i had this bug. Near my house was a big square hole and i found another one far away. i am sorry i have no screenshots.

I can't reproduce this on a new world, but I see a lot of it when loading up the old Mindcrack Season 3 world in this snapshot. In the overworld each chunk error is fixed by a relog and doesn't seem to appear again, but when I entered the nether there were a lot of issues, and my game crashed after 1 relog (which only got rid of a few chunk errors)
Since it's such an old map this could be an entirely different issue but it may be related.
The only official download I can find now is this torrent: http://mindcrack.aubronwood.com/map/s3final.torrent
Linked on this page: http://mindcrack.altervista.org/wiki/MindCrack_World_Map
There are a few world hosting sites that seem to have it available as a regular download but I'm not sure if they're the same version? Issue still may be there anyway.

Cannot reproduce (yet), but one thing that I cannot recall from before:
The way chunks get loaded (and populated?) seems differently than I remember:
http://puu.sh/jMziS/f4b5ba7db8.jpg
http://puu.sh/jMzjo/11c9172a5e.jpg
As you can see, chunks which are farther can be loaded when those closer to you still are not (yet).
Just going by visuals, it seems to me personally that chunks get loaded differently in 1.8(.7) than in a 1.9-snapshot; at least for me in 1.8(.7) I cannot spot any "floating chunk islands", for me chunks which are closer to me load in first, but in the 1.9 snapshots there are these temporary "floating chunk islands".
I don't know if it's correct (or just me), and related and if any changes to chunk loading (and maybe also populating) are the culprit for the missing chunks, as this problem is a very old one, but wanted to mention it.

I had this issue 1 time while updating my adventure map, and just reloading the world fixed it for me (totaly forgot to make screenshots)

Cannot reproduce. Downloaded the world Frederik Alsted-JΓΈnson provided and I don't have any missing chunks, at least not at the same spot as he showed on his screenshot. This area is exactly the same: http://imgur.com/VDkVLK0

I actually haven't been able to find any more world holes, since the one I posted a screenshot of.

I just upgraded a dedicated server from 15w34b to 15w34d and might have the same issue.

Crap, I forgot XD Right after I eat breakfast I will get to it

I made the world in 15w34c to show my friend all of the new stuff

And I didn't travel too far away from spawn
(Sorry, forgot to add it to other post)

I have had this before. It mostly happens when I make a world in 1.8.7 and play it in this snapshot. It has very hard time loading, even though I am using up about 20% of my minecraft memory at once. This is normal for me, at least in this newest snapshot. Even once a chunk is loaded, it will randomly unload and I can't reload it, without exiting the world. I don't know if it's the same issue, but it is still a problem.

Here is the link (Mega works very well, actually)
https://mega.nz/#!mhFgHJqD!BFf3Ivym7WFBzOqxu5_QayJlEtrLJxWQuKNO1o_TJ9E

started having this issue myself in a testing world i use. the chunk that disappeared was -5 0 -39 (or one of the neighbouring chunks). not sure if related, but whenever i use the fill command in that world, the blocks dont update in a fashion that is very similar to the bug in question.
here is the world download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/pcgvxx14iurd2zm/music+test.zip

Does it still happen in 15w36c? I am not sure how to recreate it. I usually do small world. If it have to be done on a huge world, time to go spectator.

I have tested it in 15w36d and it has been fixed. My new problem is I am lagging way more than normal on my regular settings, not sure if it's because I'm not using Optifine or not. I'm pretty sure before I wasn't lagging, though.
