The Bug:

Subtitles can disappear before sound events have finished playing.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Enable subtitles in your accessibility settings.

  2. Play the ender dragon death sound by using the command provided below.

    /playsound minecraft:entity.ender_dragon.death master @s
  3. Watch your subtitles overlay closely.

Observed Behavior:

Subtitles can disappear before sound events have finished playing.

Expected Behavior:

Subtitles would disappear once sound events have finished playing.

confirmed, I noticed this a good amount of times when adding a subtitle to a music event and then playing the sound, the subtitle disappeared after 3 seconds, the sound stopped only after 5 minutes

I don't see a reason for why there should be a permanent line for a longer sound file.

because the hard hearing (not deaf) can miss the message and then think "what the heck it this sound?" 🙂

Also for deaf people, if they look away from the screen for a moment. The sound still plays but they have no idea.

As per MC-268525, would it be possible for this ticket to be reviewed, especially in light of recent accessibility changes?
