[1-9] clicking an item out of a furnace does not give XP

The bug

When an item is done cooking in a furnace and you use the number keys [1-9] to put it in your hotbar, it does not give you XP.

Also, breaking the furnace does not either.

Confirmed (1.4.2pre). I tried smelting gold. When hovering over the gold brick and pressing '1' it was transferred to my hotbar, but I received no XP.

I think also breaking the furnace also does not give XP.

Confirmed for 1.4.2 I tested iron gold coal and diamond ores all give none XP when hovering over them and pressing 1-9. Then I broke the furnaces with a pickaxe; no XP either. All done in survival of course.

Oh, so pressing the number does that? Good to know this shortcut.

Confirmed for 1.4.5

Confirmed for 17w47b.

Seems to be fixed as of 18w11a

Might have been fixed earlier, furnace recipes via JSON were added in 18w06a and there were furnace experience changes in 18w08b (MC-125961) and 18w09a (MC-126111 and MC-126150).

not sure if this bug has reappeared or if its part of a different issue.

sometimes a furnace will give xp after a box of smeltable items go through it, but occasionally no xp will be given, even tho its the same furnace and the same amount of items went through. Breaking and replacing the furnace seemed to help but haven't been able to recreate it since. (happened playing xbox one, using realms. others have also mentioned this happening to them, but I don't know the devices they use)

This was a Java edition bug, whatever runs on an Xbox is completely different.
