When crafting cakes in Minecraft, there are times where I follow the crafting recipe for the cake, and once I click on the finished product on the crafting screen, and in that small grey square, it uses my materials, and yet I get no finished cake. Please help! My cakes are going missing!!

An issue like what you describe was fixed in 1.16.0 (see MCPE-63228). However, it's conceivable you could get the same issue if your inventory was glitched by another bug such as MCPE-70591. Does the issue continue if you save and quit, then reload the world, and attempt to craft cake before doing anything else?
