When you leave the world and then go back on most of my farm animals disappeared and they hadn't escaped and some pens weren't affected. This has happened twice since the update 11.1, once the first time on after updating and once a bit later on. it has never happened before and doesn't happen every time

this isn't confined to MCPE either
the Hermit craft server (no mods just "plain vanilla" MC) used by youtubers like Mumbo Jumbo.
mumbo enclosed dozens of chickens in a "no way out" enclosure and a few weeks later poof, one day there, next day gone
i have seen pigs, cows and sheep climb ten meters up ladders and up vines but they also escape "no way out" set-ups too
oh just remembered, i saw a pair of female youtubers doing a multi session in a downloaded map that they caught an octopus n put it in a tub of water but at least twice the thing disappeared but later came back - first time it returned with a friend so the two were overloading the pool for a couple days until they disappeared again

I can confirm this just happened to me yesterday (11/2/15) in MCPE version 0.12.3 on iOS
I have a barn with 4 no-escape pens holding pigs, cows, sheep and chickens. One minute I had several in each pen, the next I had NO chickens, ONE cow, a few sheep, and I couldn't tell if I lost any pigs or not.
Is it possible that this issue is somehow related to when you enter the world, and it is "building" the terrain? I just went back and forth from the Nether to the Overland a few times, and noticed some of my animals had dissapeared.

Yes, very similar. Same issue really. This report was created first though. The two should be merged.
This bug has already been reported! Please go here -> (MCPE-1982) and make sure to do a quick search for your bug before just writing a duplicate ticket. Currently 48% of resolved tickets have been duplicates!
I just encountered this, as well. MC:Windows 10. I was building in the Nether when my SO joined my Realm and into the Nether with me. When he went back, ALL 100s of my sheep, horses (armored and saddled and bare), cows, pigs, and chickens ALL disappeared from their pens!
Now, I have a lot of empty pens... 😞
Did they space somewhere else? Because for me I see them spawn outside the pen they where in (quite annoying)
