Magma Cube and Slime Splitting

Whenever slimes or magma cubes split, newly spawned entities all seem to originate at the same point. This can cause the entities to "explode outwards" (all entities are within the same location and therefore they are all pushed outwards, sometimes traveling much greater distances than their standard "jump" would allow). In survival mode this can be particularly problematic because it is often impossible to predict how the split entities will target you and it often appears that they lunge at you, covering a distance that would typically not be possible. In Java edition Minecraft, slimes and magma cubes split into distinct locations.Β

The appearance of lunging at you is partially caused by MCPE-37789.

The β€œexploding outward” may be working as intended, because that’s how herd spawns happen in Bedrock Edition (MCPE-66319). However, it may also be exaggerated due to MCPE-114701.
