Clocks, Compasses, and Recovery Compasses have a corrupted appearance after turning HD texture packs on/off

Clocks show multiple in item frames and hand.

Happens when leaving chunk and returning, however returns to normal once game auto saves.

I have used natural texture pack and another shader before but glitch still occurs in standard

KR_

Is this still an issue in the latest release? If it is, please make 100% sure that you don't have any third-party modifications enabled (resource packs, behavior packs, texture packs, etc.) Additionally, attach a copy of the world in which you're experiencing the issue. Steps on how to reproduce (if possible) would also be greatly appreciated.

This issue also appears to have affected other platforms in the past, so it's unlikely that it's limited to a single platform.

Still happening!

I have discovered that this issue also occurs in Windows, and affects Compass and Recovery Compass as well as Clock items. (Note that these item textures get updated in real time instead of in response to entity or block updates, which is probably why only❓ these are affected.)

Steps to reproduce:
1. Select or create a test world in Creative mode.
2. In the world settings, activate a high resolution texture pack (I'm using Natural Texture Pack here).
3. Open the world.
4. Build a wall.
5. Place 3 item frames on it, with 2 empty blocks between them.
6. Place a clock, a compass, and a recovery compass in the frames.
7. Note the appearance, e.g.

8. Save and quit the world.

9. In the world settings, deactivate the texture pack.
10. Open the world. Note the appearance, e.g.

Once the issue has been triggered, it affects other worlds, even those to which no high resolution texture pack has ever been applied, and sometimes the result is puzzling:

I have also seen effects where the reverse sequence – going from the vanilla textures to a 32-bit texture pack – resulted in rendering only the top left quarter of the texture. Unfortunately, I haven't found a way to reliably reproduce the results in this paragraph.

The issue is not corrected by:

  • relogging the world,

  • loading a different world, then returning to the affected world, or

  • reloading the game.
However, reloading the game works sometimes.

I can reproduce this issue with various high resolution texture packs:

  • Natural Texture Pack by Minecraft (16-bit)

  • Faithful by Xmrvizzy (16-bit)

  • Clarity by Pathway Studios (16-bit)

  • TrueRealism HD by Pathway Studios (16- and 32-bit)
All of these texture packs installed without errors.

The issue is apparently something to do with how the graphics processor is being programmed. It might therefore be a bug in the GPU or integrated graphics chip. For me it's happening on two different desktop computers with different Intel integrated graphics chips, Intel UHD Graphics 770 and Intel UHD Graphics 630.

Hello! This issue also occurs with clocks at random intervals when held in the hand of the player rather than when placed in an item frame.
