Baby Chicken Slab Bug

Baby chickens standing on a bottom half slab should not be affected by eggs being dispensed into the same space (see screen shot of the dispenser and slab)

Since 0.16.* there is some inconsistency in this behaviour, as at times they will get 'hit' by the egg, causing them to jump. This has rendered automatic chicken farm designs almost useless.

Reopening as since 1.0.0 this affects again:

  • iOS

  • Android

  • Realms

(But only on some worlds)

Is this still a problem?

Seems to still be an issue with Win10 1.0.7 at least.

Are we sure that this is a bug and not the intended behavior. It seems like a related bug was just fixed and the behavior changed to work this way with arrows. From the 1.0.7 changelog: "Arrows fired from a dispenser will now hit entities directly in front of the dispenser"

It seems consistent that dispensed eggs should also follow this logic. It is inconvenient for chicken farms, but I'm not sure it isn't working as intended. Farms can still be made to work if they are built slightly larger so the dispensed eggs can't hit baby chickens

In version 1.1.0 Windows 10 Edition I noticed that if there is a chick in the farm on the half-slab and another egg is dispensed it hits the chick and kills it. I don't see it popping up into the lava, I just see it taking damage and getting killed from being hit by an egg. There are also reports of people trying to ride a horse, donkey, or mule and the animal takes severe damage and dies. This could be related.

Still affects 1.1.3.1

It definitely is the lava killing it, because if you remove the lava they don't die. (Eggs don't inflict any damage)

Still affects 1.2.02

Can confirm that this is still an issue as of 1.2.5, well over a year later.
