Updated Description by @unknown
Choosing the Settings menu whilst in game results in severe lag / freeze. Even changing the volume of the device won't work until the settings menu has opened. It will usually open the settings menu eventually without crashing, though.
Steps to Reproduce:
Press back to bring up the menu gui
tap Settings
Notice the delay/lag/freeze
Original Description:
The game freezes when I tap settings button while playing.
Device: DL Tablet 3405
PS: My device has an Intel Atom processor.

Even I use Lenovo A850+,Mediatek Octa Core MT6592 1.7GHz (2.0GHz overclocked),1GB RAM,Quad Core Mali 450MP,the game not smooth like I expected.
Reopening as there is still significant lag when opening certain menus.

ipad air 2, outdated ios 8.1.2, mcpe 1.0.5, confirmed
It happens with [MCPE-20546] for me when I have Faithful on
I've checked the FPSin version 1.1.0.9; it drops down from 60fps to 19fps when opening the settings menu.

Confirmed for 1.2.0.2
Almost every Menu lags not only the Settings

Extreme lag in the menus, feels like 5-10fps most of the time, sometimes slower. 3-4 seconds when clicking something. I have all render distance and effects turned down and makes no difference.

This is not just lag for me. My son plays on a LG G3 Tablet. The game loads just fine, but when he tries to go into the settings menu from the main screen, the game shuts down and kicks him out completely. The game will also shut down and kick him out when he tries to go into any of his worlds. So basicly he can't play Minecraft at all until these issues get resolved.
Confirmed on windows 10

From what I've seen this bug is usually caused by having a lot of data saved onto the game (Worlds, resource packs, behavior packs, etc.). An easy solution for now would to delete any saved data you don't need such as empty worlds and broken addons.
Just tested; this did not happen in earlier versions such as 1.2

It literally made me die because i was trying to add friends while in bedwars

I once waited over 5 minutes until I had to completely close the game because of this bug! (It completely crashed the game)

When changing anti-aliasing, it makes the screen turn red for a second
This also affects the world edit menu. Separate issue or same?
I can also confirm this. I have the beta on a Nvidia Shield Tablet (it has a NVIDIA Tegra K1 192 core Kepler GPU
2.2 GHz ARM Cortex A15 CPU with 2 GB RAM). During gameplay I had a solid 60 frames per second. However when I switched to the settings menu it drops to 20-40 fps
