On-screen keyboard displays when trying to type if controller is also connected

When attempting to place a sign, the on-screen keyboard now pops up, and if you try to type with physical keyboard it kicks you out of ‘editing’ the sign, making anything to do with typing (including searching in creative inventory) near impossible. It never did this before this update. I’ve tried completely disabling the on-screen keyboard in Windows itself, but Minecraft tells it to still open. I use a controller to play the game, but use mouse/keyboard for typing and other things. The game is rather unplayable at this point.
