We are having problems with the Nether Portals on our Realm.
So near spawn we make our first Nether Portal. We explore the nether a bit and then come back out.
We then walk about 4 2x2 maps away and make a new Nether Portal. We go into that portal and end up at the first nether portal location inside the nether.
This is extremely frustrating. The nether is completely messed up. We've done this on at least 2 different worlds on our realm and its the same thing on both of them.
We will test this out on saves not on a realm server and get back to you if we see any difference.

Same issue map had a 1:16 ratio. first portal build on the far right boarder. second portal built across the ocean far left side of map boarder. They still sync to the same nether portal. This Never happened before. And I do know how Nether Portals are suppose to work.
Side note: Nether portals don't alway generate in the same direction as Overworld portals, making it very frustrating to find second portal with no sense of direction since coordinates are now classified as Cheats.
Fix the orientation and fix the portal generating proximity.
@Katherine Phillips: Were you able to reproduce the problem in a non-Realms world, and is it still happening?
@Clinton Green: What release were you using? Was this also on a Realms world? Can you reproduce it on a non-Realms world? Also, this issue is about portal linking. The inconsistent orientation is by design. If you want to propose changing it please take that to the feedback site.
We can only work on an issue if we can reproduce it. To do so in this case, we need the world seed, the sequence of portal construction/generation (and destruction, if relevant), and the coordinates of all portals you build.

This has been happening since at least 1.6 on realms. I have seen portals much closer together work on java and ps4. So not sure if that part is normal or not on bedrock. Have not tried off realm.
Have taken overworld portals farther than 128 apart and still having some issues. 2 portals older are closer and link fine. The new one that is further link one way. From nether to world works. But going back links to older portal.
Another that is right around the 128 overworld same thing. The link correctly one way.
Seed 95475027
2 new portals 32 by -1524 and 4 by -190
364 by -396 and 45 by -49
First portal comes back to nether at this one 26 by -148
First portal on map 276 by -331 and 35 by -41
Works as expected even after breaking and restarting.
2nd one on map near spawn.
314 by -100 and 40 by -11 works as expected
This one is a 5 x 5 portal area. All others are 3x3 portal area.
Next am going to resize a portal to see if it changes. Changing back to 3 x 2 portal area.
Having issues again since 1.12.1 did a google search to see if any vids or threads on it recently.
Its on a realm. I can open a report for realms. But am wondering if that is a good idea. Would it not be better to tag realm into this thread with all the info. Rather than creating new one with possibly less info.
Its not my realm so can't dl to try local. For whatever reason they won't turn coords on. Keep saying no cheats on game.
Using a 0of4 map to line up portals. It works fine unless you are linking more than one in a close area.
Have main portal for travel. Another to dump villagers in nether from breeder. And another to return them to trading hall. This is needed to deal with villager bugs/flaws.
Did a bit of work over 4 days. Place portal in world. Line up portal in nether with map. Then move world portal 1 block at a time if not linking. They work coming out of nether. But have issues when sending in to nether.
First had issue with main portal. It constantly sent me to holding pen for villagers. Fixed it.
Then had both working. Moving the portals farther away on x and z had no effect. To avoid lava lakes and griefers i am build up by bedrock in nether.
The only way to fix was to build main portal around 130 blocks in the world. Both were working.
As soon as i built the return villager portal it broke the villager send portal in the same way. Both villager portals use the same portal in the nether. But from the nether link to correct world portal.
Just spent a few hours moving both send portals to insure they are lined up.
This was an issue that seemed to be fixed before. Where it was more interested in the y coord than the x and z. Looks like its back. Please fix. Lifting the main portal works with base build. But wrecks base design to change villager portals. I can't imagine most people need this priority of the y coord for portal linking. On ps4 y coord never seemed to matter. Have seen vids on bedrock and java with portals closer working.

Ok never needed one before. But figured i build an off switch for portal for return villagers. Water no longer turns off a portal. Will try again later incase its a realm glitch. I understand im a bit frustrated. But the game not only breaks portals linking but a possible work around.
