It takes 5 seconds for the color of the beacon beam to change when placing a colored stained glass block over a beacon.
This is an even bigger problem for slower devices (Please see MCPE-23801)

I can confirm. Realised something today and in think it might relate: If colored, the texture is stitched together
Also an issue in the Java edition: MC-127238
This is really annoying for beacon contraptions. And I think this should be a pretty easy fix. If this delay existed for performance concerns in early versions, may I point out that many red stone components works fine on 1tick bases. Please just fix it.
Still happening on 1.17.10 on a Nintendo Switch Lite. The game seems to be updating beacon color about every 4-5 seconds.
I tried changing graphics settings, restarting the software, and moving the software from SD card to system memory. Nothing made a noticeable difference.
I haven't noticed any other comparable lag in other aspects of the game.
As of 1.21.90+, whenever a beacon beam changes color, it recalculates the color and changes it again after around one second. On single player, this presents itself as a very light color then the darker, more saturated, normal version.
On realms, this presents itself as two distinct colors showing from different timings, which means rendering the beacon color more often is absolutely possible.
[media]I hope the team is still aware of this issue and how it presents a major limitation keeping beacons from their full potential.
Still affects 1.21.94, Xbox Series X and iOS.
it could just be your device might be slow
