Can’t enter worlds with multiplayer enabled using Mario Mash-up skins in Local Network on Switch

MCPE-239565 was fixed in 26.32 for Windows, iOS, etc, but for some reason, the same error message that was from MCPE-239565 appears when players of Nintendo Switch tried playing a world with multiplayer enabled through local network (Local wireless) with skins from Super Mario Mash-up Pack equipped.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Make sure you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription so the Multiplayer toggle would stay enabled throughout the procedure.

  2. With Minecraft open, go to the Dressing Room

  3. Click the green hanger icon (Classic Skins button)

  4. Select a skin from the Super Mario Mash-up Pack (Mario Mash-up)

  5. Equip it

  6. Return to the title screen

  7. Click the Y button to access the network mode menu

  8. Select “Local Network” / Local Wireless

  9. Click Play

  10. Enter a world with “Offline“ in red background (those that don’t have “Offline” always yield the expected result)

Expected result: It should enter as-is

Observed result (see skin gate bug on local play.mp4): For most worlds, It does nothing, and only yields an error “There is a problem loading the world”; “The skin that you have equipped is from a content pack that is not allowed in cross-platform player” when accessing the Edit World screen of any, however, unlike MCPE-239565, clicking Play there on a world works around the issue (thanks to MCPE-238908?).

Workarounds:

Disable Multiplayer for Local Network:

  1. Click Edit on a world you want to play “offline”

  2. Click Multiplayer on Edit World screen

  3. Turn off Multiplayer (If you are offline or in Local Network mode (Local wireless), the game does this step automatically due to MCPE-238908)

  4. Save and exit from the Edit world screen

If the players have to use the skins in local network (Local wireless) with multiplayer enabled (assuming you have an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription):

  1. Make sure you have skins from the Mario Mash-up equipped

  2. While online, click play

  3. Click Edit on a world

  4. Click Play

  5. Open the pause screen

  6. Click Save and quit

  7. Return to the title screen

  8. Click the Y button to access the network mode menu

  9. Select “Local Network” / Local Wireless

  10. Click Play

  11. Enter the world again

No?

MCPE-235961 is about the game on the Switch softlocking attempting to join cross-platform multiplayer world while the player was in another. This is about the player not being able to enter the world with Mario skins in Local play. their steps to reproduce and results are very different.

Asides having the same suggested solution which is to make the mash-up pack not platform restricted (usable on cross-platform multiplayer) like what community ports did, this issue does not softlock anything

This has been happening to me since I got the pack (December 2024) and I’m pretty sure it’s intentional

See Steps to reproduce.

If I can enter a world using skins from the Mario Mash-up with multiplayer enabled online, then why can’t I enter a world in Local Network in skins from the Mario Mash-up?

Additionally, as far as I tested, the workaorund that requires no modding in MCPE-239565 also applies here.

If you were pointing out that resource packs from the Mario Mash-up requires all multiplayer to be disabled, then please check workarounds to MCPE-180557. Off topic, If the resource pack could be used in Switch-specific multiplayer on the world from the mash-up pack, then why can’t it be enabled on other world / upon reactivation?
