In the 1.21.120.20 Beta and Preview, the Vibrant Visuals exclusive brightness adjustment slider in Video Settings was renamed to “Gamma” in JSON UI. This change wasn’t ported to the OreUI version of the Video Settings screen that “released” in the 1.21.130.24 Preview (MCPE-230208).
Steps to Reproduce:
Launch Minecraft Preview (26.60.24+)
Open “Settings” and navigate to Video > Mode
Confirm Vibrant Visuals is the currently selected mode
Under “Preferences” find the “Display brightness” option
Click the “Adjust” button and observe the subsequent screen
Expected Result:
Video settings should refer to the “Display brightness” option as either “Gamma adjustment” or “Display gamma”. The actual adjustment screen which includes the slider should say, “Adjust Gamma” and the description should say, “Use the slider to adjust Gamma until the image is clearly visible.”
Observed Result:
The Video settings screen calls the option “Display brightness”. The actual screen to adjust the value with the slider is says, “Adjust brightness”.
Notes:
It's likely the team forgot to include the change in the new UI as there have been instances of options in JSON UI being absent when the OreUI version of a settings interface is introduced (Ex: MCPE-228101).
Considering MCPE-241090, and how it affects the game's visuals in Fancy mode, it would make sense that the brightness adjustment for Vibrant Visuals should be referred to as “Gamma” instead. As shown in various screenshots and videos from the community, it clearly acts more like a Gamma value adjuster than a traditional brightness setting because of the way it washed out the game’s visuals like Legacy Console’s gamma slider when set to high values.
The tracker failed to attach the screenshots I wanted to add, so I’ll include them in this comment:
