I have an account meant for me when I'm alone. So I loaded up Mineplex on that account and it said that I must have an xbox live account. I own the game in my profile and own the Xbox Live gold in my profile so why does it say that?

Same issue here. It happens on my Xbox One S with my daughterโs Xbox Live account, only with Mineplex and InPvP, while lifeboat works even if with frequent disconnections. Moreover, after the connection fails, she can no more invite friends to the servers, because in place of the invite button there is a message that says that sheโs not connected to Xbox Live anymore. A full console reboot is needed to reset the issue. Oddly enough it happens only with her account: with my account everything works fine on the same console; moreover, her account works flawlessly with servers on the updated Minecraft windows edition.
We own the disc version of Minecraft Xbox One Edition, and I downloaded the new one yesterday with my account.
I seem to have found some sort of workaround. Launch Minecraft without logging into Xbox Live before. Log in when the main menu appears. This way I managed to get into mineplex and inpvp. However, I got disconnected from inpvp after a short while, and then again I had to reboot the console to regain full Xbox Live functionality.

i to have this issue and i can confirm that restarting the xbox one is one of the only ways to workaround it and even then after either a few seconds it fails to work properly.
For us, Minecraft Better Together only works correctly for the account that purchased the Xbox Live Gold membership. Other users cannot connect to realms, servers or purchase items in the game's shop. Sometimes the error messages says: I need to Login to XBL, please check internet connect, or unable to join.
This sounds similar to the issue we're experiencing, Im not sure if its exactly the same or somehow related. I thought we had our issue resolved but it returned so the workaround I described is temporarily.
