Old world types are getting cut off and can only be fixed if turned into infinite world type.

Update on this issue:

As a workaround, you might want to try changing the world spawn back, or expanding the world size to an infinite world, which will re-render the lost chunks - they aren't lost, just hidden.

How to reproduce:

  1. Create old world

  2. Move several blocks away from the spawn point

  3. /setworldspawn

  4. Save & quit

  5. Enter the world again.
--> On one side the edge chunks are gone, on the other side there are empty edge chunks with nothing in it ❌

Original Description
Old world types are getting cut off (by which I mean turned invisible)and when you walk into their areas that are cut off everything turns invisible. When I am not in that back half of the world I can see the animals walking around in the area that is cut off and I can also see some of the items inside my house that just so happens to be on the edge of the world that is cut off. Please fix this in your next update as I would love to be able to continue to work on this world that is broken because of this bug. I have seen other people have this same problem and it saddens me that this has not been fixed yet.

I have the same problem in many of my old worlds, it’s really frustrating.

I can confirm this is happening on my iPhone 7 Plus. I just reloaded my world in the new 1.11.0 update and the issue still occurs. The only solution I’ve found is make the world infinite.

Update: Still affected in 1.11.1. Also added before and after screenshots showing the bug being fixed after converting from "old" to "infinite" world types.

I exported the world from my iPhone 7+ to my Windows 10 computer and the bug still persists. Still the only fix is turning the world infinite.

The bug is still confirmed in 1.12.0

after some testing, the world spawn can only be the Original spawn point not the newly set spawn point. so i say it has to do with game issue. so if you have this on one of your maps try and find the first spawn point or get the seed and make a new world, see where you spawn, go back to your first map and reset your spawn point to that spot

How do I switch from old to infinite?

@Balint Uhrinbora, in settings for the old world, scroll all the way down, you should see a button that says “Make Infinite!” and that will do it.

Just updated my iOS app to version 1.17 and the borders of my old world have shifted to different chunks. 3/4 of my world is missing unless I change the world type to infinite. This is even happening on the backups that were taken before the update.

Have the same problem with the shifted chunks. I think there’s a new bug report on it though.
