Note: This is related to MCPE-16291 which is marked as fixed in October. But either the underlying problem of that bug is not fixed or this is another issue.
Bedrock Edition - Realm server - Xbox One & PC
Right now, hostile mobs to not despawn. You can travel far away from the chunk or leave the realm and hostile enemies will never despawn. This is game breaking for any users who use mob farms or for any users who need to kill certain mobs for items.
To Reproduce:
1. Capture a few mobs and block them with light to keep other mobs from spawning in the area.
2. Use the usual methods which normally make the game despawn mobs.
3. Return to the area.
Result:
Mobs are still present. They have not despawned. Mob cap gets reached, no other mobs spawn.
Expected:
Mobs to follow specified game rules despawning where appropriate.

Tested this in Bedrock 1.6 Realm.Β Hostile mobs remain loaded and do not despawn after spending 1+ hours over 200 blocks away from mob.
they won't despawn as they will be set as persistent if you interact with them so this is working exactly as it should.

On my realm, I'm currently experiencing either exactly the same issue or something very similar.Β Mobs that are hundreds or even thousands of blocks away from any player do not despawn.Β I've seen this occur all over my realm, it's most obvious when someone enters an area moving fairly quickly (such as with elytra or maybe even a minecart or horse).Β You'll see, especially easily seen in open areas, zombies and skeletons burning more than half way through the day as the chunks load.Β Nether appears to have the same problem.
MCPE-28352 outlines bedrock spawning mechanics which make mobs farms completely useless. Along with this despawn issue it makes survival play difficult and hugely time consuming. Gotta spend 30 minutes hunting for creepers for a few rockets to keep flying. And since nothing deep underground despawns you canβt even make a sniper tower because things are so slow to spawn.
