The Minecraft app, version 1.2.8 from Amazon Appstore,
crashed after starting up on my tablet device.
This problem could be something about connecting to servers
on the internet because when the app gets to the title screen,
it tries to sign in to my Xbox Live user account. Also, most of the
app crashes took place when the WiFi connection wasn't working.
After doing that, if the app is running, no similar
problems appear and the game can be played offline.
I have attached a screenshot image of some connections to
web services that Minecraft needed to make when starting up
- you can see that each URL there uses port 443 and
they are mostly from subdomains of xboxlive.com
(15 items),minecraft.net
(3 items) or microsoft.com
(3 items).
Please sort out this problem, thanks. 🙂

Port 443 just means you're using the more secure https protocol (plain http is port 80). If the screenshot is a list connection failures, it indicates that you could not establish sessions with a whole bunch of servers, which indicates a problem in the Internet. It's uncommon but it happens, and it generally corrects itself after a short time.
Try signing in to Xbox Live again later. If the problem persists, let us know in a comment.

I think it's a bit different to that issue so maybe isn't a duplicate.
However, there's many other similar problems on that page that are

A comment that I added to that open issue:
I've had this problem about connecting to servers on the internet
(the app crashing when it tries to sign in to the Xbox Live service). For me, it's version 1.2.8 from Amazon Appstore on an Android tablet
device (Amazon Kindle Fire) and most of the app crashes took place
when the WiFi connection wasn't working.
More details at https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-30183 .@Mega_Spud There are no followers and/or friends for
my account, however the game has crashed a few times.

After updating to the newest version "v1.2.13", I haven't had any more crashes (apart from one before I signed in to my Xbox Live account, when it wasn't logged in after updating the app). My device is "Tablet - Android - Amazon Kindle Fire".
