Saving while against iron bar teleports you vertically when logging back in.

If you save when you are right up against an iron bar, once you log back in, you will appear in the closest open space above that location. If used as shown in the attached screenshot, this can be used with a single block column to teleport to the top (up to build limit).

I could only get this to work in the overworld, i.e. I couldn't get to the top of the nether with it.

This also happened to me a couple days ago. I saved while standing on a balcony of top slabs, next to a wooden fence. I was turned about 45 degrees. I remember because I always try to compose my save thumbnails. When I reloaded, I was on the roof above the balcony. When I saved and reloaded again, the problem did not recur.

I thought it might be a hit box problem, but I'm not sure because I had two empty blocks above me, which should have been enough it the game relocated me upward because of the rail.

@Travis Painter: I use a custom skin, which might conceivably cause a hit box to be calculated wrong. I assume you use a custom skin too. Can you reproduce it with the Steve skin?

I tried with the default Steve skin and the same thing was still happening.

With some further testing, it works in either creative or survival, but if you are in creative mode, you can't be "flying". If I have been flying in creative mode, I have to switch to survival to drop out of flying before switching back to creative.

Also, no matter what I tried, I couldn't recreate it in the nether.

Something similar happened to me in 1.8.0.24 PE on Bedrock Dedicated Server. I was in my base, as usual, relogged pretty quickly and I was falling in the spawn location, fortunately, water saved me.

It seems from all the comments that blocks that are in the middle ike fences, glass, iron bars they all do it.
