It's fine starting up the game but, occasionally after playing for long periods the cursor will get stuck moving left making it very difficult to navigate to do anything. and the only way to fix is a game restart.
Im sure this isnt my controller because it still occurs with the analog stick and d-pad held in place, and it doesn't occur on the Xbox Home screen.

That's what I'm experiencing. But something with the chat box is making it occur to. It's when you repeatedly enter and activate a command.
What do i do if i dont use the dpad? I use the joystick to navigate. pressing the dpad in the direction doesnt fix it for me.
This exact thing happens to me still! I must restart the game to make it work again until about five minutes later the thing starts moving left again. Please tell me that an update will come out soon to fix this. Or, even better, just make an update that brings back all of the far superior console polish.
Does anyone know if they plan to fix this bug it happens to me literally every 10 - 20 minutes making the game unplayable 😞
This is fixed in the 1.7.0.3 Beta - we'll leave the ticket open until the fix is included in a non-beta release.
Resolved as fixed in 1.7.0. "Cursor D-pad input no longer gets stuck on the inventory screen or pause menu (MCPE-33895)" (https://feedback.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360017865652-Minecraft-1-7-0-Bedrock-)
It happens if a menu is closed whilst the d-pad is held as well. Press the d-pad direction button again stops it being stuck in a position.
Repro steps:
Using an Xbox or Switch controller, enter the game and press the start or + button
Hold the 'up' d-pad button, and at the same time press B (to exit the pause menu)
Now press start/pause again or open inventory
The d-pad input is stuck, so the cursor will move on it's own.
Pressing the d-pad button again resolves it.
