I have noticed at least 2 messages that appear while the world is generating do not use the usual English (US) Minecraft font, and instead use one with sleek, thin characters. I can't recall verbatim what the exact texts were, however I know one was about not needing a saddle to tame a Skeleton Horse and the other about needing an iron pick to mine diamonds (or something along those lines.)

In contrast to this, can confirm that with the recent updates I have seen other tooltips with the font issue. Again, non standard abcd... etc. Also look for ‘ and - as the issue ones, most other characters aren’t an issue.
I think the bug is that including non-standard characters transforms the font of the entire message instead of just using it for that individual character

Seems to be caused by non standard font/characters (eg – rather than -)
Those affected seem to be:
tips.game.3=Baby turtles will drop scutes when they grow – these can be crafted into turtle shells.
tips.game.12=Compasses always point to the world spawn – craft one to find your way!
tips.game.19=Before you mine diamonds, redstone or gold, make sure you're using an iron or diamond pickaxe or the ore won't drop.
tips.game.38=Taming a skeleton horse doesn't require a saddle.
