When I go into a nether portal (from the Overworld to the Nether) there's a portal I expect to come out of
Expected Behavior:
I come out of the portal as expected
Actual Behavior:
A new portal is created a few blocks away from the expected one (the one in the back is the expected one)

However, the existing portal WAS activated when I went into the nether, so I don't see why the game would create a newΒ one. Also going from nether to overworld takes me to the same bedrock surrounded portal that was already there.
I suspect the problem is that the portal you built (the one in front in the screenshot) is partially embedded in lava. That's not a place the game considers eligible when generating a portal, but I wasn't aware that it would validate a portal already built there, so I might be wrong.
The portal had two blocks touching lava. They were corner blocks so I don't see why it wouldn't work. This exact portal setup works on legacy console editions, but not bedrock???
I am having this same problem, but when I come back to the Overworld from the new portal, the original portal is deactivated. The original portal also deactivates when I go into The End and back, however the portal does not deactivate while playing multiplayer. I am playing this world on the Nintendo Switch, and I transferred my world over from the Nintendo Switch Edition. The portal that is causing trouble, I had back in the Nintendo Switch Edition.

Hey I have the awnser to this because when you go to the nether portal it thinks itβs broken or not lit it will make a new one instead. It is caused by making another portal.
