I have found the .mcfunction files. I have found online info that says these files can be open by text reader programs, such as Notepad. My language for Minecraft is English. When I open a .mcfunction file in Notepad, I see uninterpretable symbols, numbers, characters! What do I need, in order for this files to be readable when opened???

It's not resolved, hence why the resolution on this ticket is "unresolved."
However, if you are attempting to read the contents of files from marketplace maps, they are intentionally encrypted.
Oh, so you mean the Duplicate was resolved, but the issue was still open???
Next, if the files are intentionally encrypted, then that SHOULD BE STATED in information at sources, such as any official Minecraft, Mojang sites, and gamepedia.minecraft.com and digminecraft.com !!! That would have saved time and prevented aggravation, for all concerned! Thanks for quick reply this time!
Annette, if you are trying to write a mcfunction file, just write the commands you want to be executed in a plain text document.
Seperate each command with a press of the enter/return key. Save the file as xxx.mcfunction and replace xxx with whatever you want the function to be executed as in game. IE: say you want a function that teleports you to spawn upon death, and want it to be called "spawndeathtp" than you would name it spawndeathtp.mcfunction.
All marketplace files are encrypted as the mod stated, you are most likely reading sources regarding java edition.
