1.13 freezes when opening chat +graphic issues

Since I updated to 1.13 my game freezes when I open chat.

Also some weird screens pop up in game see screenshot.

Besides this problem there are also light issues with the game, light sources are very dimmed on distance, also there are weird shadow spots on open areas in the map.

I found out that when I turn off my custome texture pack the chat problem is fixed. So what is the option to fix this problem when using a custom texturepack?

Mike, I believe the option is to update the UI in the pack with the changes that were made in the release you're targeting, rather than relying on upward compatibility from an older release. It's possible that a bug has broken upward compatibility, but it's hard to be sure. I'm also not sure whether the chat UI changed in the pack is officially supported for resource packs. It might be a good idea if you'd attach your pack to this ticket.

To everyone who created a duplicate report and is watching this report: Can any of you reproduce this problem without using a resource pack?

Problem solved!

I did not had time earlier to place my fix for the problem.

The thing I did that worked out was deleting the “ui” and “entity” folder from the texture pack and also change the UUID of the pack.

No I can’t reproduce the problem

I’m going to try what Mike did

Mike: Glad you've got it fixed.

Everybody: Note that Mojang strongly recommends not creating packs by simply duplicating the vanilla template and making changes. When you make a pack, you should change what you need to and delete everything else. That way, you're not overriding changes made by other lower-priority packs that have been activated at the same time, or overriding vanilla resources with an older version of them (which is what happened in this case). It also makes your pack much, much smaller, saving memory, file space, and download time.

I’m on Nintendo Switch and I can replicate this while using no packs. If I accidentally hit the chat button, I have to shut the game down and restart completely.

With no resource pack is working ok.

@unknown: You seem to be the only person left who can't fix it by removing a problematic resource pack. Do you perhaps have a resource pack in Global Resources that you've forgotten about? If not, I wonder if your problem is something completely different. If possible, could you attach a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thank you for your report!
