I went to move a bucket of milk from my inventory (on my hotbar) into a large chest and rather than picking up the bucket it emptied. The milk just disappeared.

This happens in the following situations...
Dropping the milk bucket.
Moving the milk bucket between inventory slots, either hotbar or main inventory.
Moving the milk bucket into a storage container such as a chest or barrel.
Eating another item in your hotbar.
This has been observed on Android 8.1 on LG Q6 on a realm on 1.13.0. Observed by other players also on Switch and other devices.

Confirmed.
Verification platform: Windows 10, 1.13.
Attached a simple survival world to demonstrate the issue.
Steps to reproduce (using
[media] )
1. Milk the cow with the bucket (already present in the inventory)
2a. Try to move the bucket with milk from hotbar to another slot
2b. Try to move the bucket with milk from hotbar to the inventory
2c. Try to move the bucket with milk from hotbar to a chest or barrel.
Observed behavior:
The bucket with milk empties and can't properly be moved or stored.
Expected behavior:
The bucket still contains the milk when moved between slots or inventories.

Seeing what looks like identical behavior with 1.13.0.34 on Android platform. Android 10, Pixel 3 XL.

I suspect this is what I'm seeing cause crafting of cakes to result in losing ingredients/buckets as well (Win 10/1.13.0)
, I'm not sure if that is also helpful to test all the milk bucket related codepaths/logic. If nothing else, at least hopefully fellow confused cake crafters might find this report based on keywords.

This happens for me on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch editions of Minecraft as well as Windows 10 Edition.

Seeing similar behavior in 1.13.0 on iOS 12.4.1. First noticed it as milk bucket emptying when killing the cow just milked. Thought that might be intended behavior so next milked a cow and then tried to save the milk bucket in a chest, and discovered that any interaction with the full milk bucket results in an empty bucket. Not sure how killing the cow (or engaging in any other melee combat) triggers it, but it's very repeatable.
The real impact is that there's no getting rid of the Bad Omen status effect while this bug endures!

noticed the same bug 2 days ago. on Xbox one. new (fox) update.
when trying to move bucket the milk is gone and the bucket jumps back to where it was.
plus never finishing drinking milk animation. unless you let go the button. also milk was disapiering for unknown reason.

Suggested Work Around: What's been working for me to get around this is to milk from a stack of 2 or more empty buckets. The milk in the last one will disappear if you try to move it but the previous ones in the stack go to inventory as they are filled.
Affected in 1.14.0.6

This happened to me on W10 on 1.13 after using a bucket of milk to remove bad omen effect. I could fill & move the bucket if I refilled it with water but not milk. Using a new bucket after stacking 2 together worked.

Possible workaround: Try to milk the cow multiple times. If you can move the bucket successfully, it probably has the milk (as expected).

The issue is still persisting as of 10/11/19

Still happens in 1.13.1

I attached a video (camera recorded sorry) showcasing the bug
[media]and another of the workaround KillerbeeNL mentions
[media]

@@unknown Sorry for any confusion. If you have the last full bucket of the stack, it can appear full. But might actually be empty.
For the mentioned workaround, you need to use the last (single) bucket of the stack again, even if it appears full of milk to the player.
Also see my mention of "if you can move the bucket successfully, it probably has the milk".
Thanks for making that clear (in a video) how that should work with a stack.

My workaround is to keep the bucket in my hotbar and not move it after milking a cow because I mainly use it to cure poisoning and other bad status effects. Sometimes the milk still disappears but seems to remain after I milk the cow the second time.
(Xbox One)

I can confirm the bucket emptying of milk from buckets is still an issue as of 11/28/19.
It happens both when:
1) you quick move a bucket of milk into a chest (or ender chest; haven't tested shulkers)
2) you enter your inventory then pick up the bucket to move it from the inventory slot
If you have a stack of buckets and one pops out of your hotbar that milk is movable; it seems the only unmovable-without-emptying bucket occurs when it is on the hotbar
I've noticed if you take a quick 'sip' of milk (enough to make the sound and/or graphic effect for a moment) but stop quickly the bucket of milk stuck in the inventory will then become moveable. These buckets then act normal and can be placed in chests etc
(Bedrock Realm on Xbox One)

I have an additional experience of this glitch.
I had all the proper resources to craft two cakes. Upon creating them I was left with one empty bucket in my hotbar, no cake, and the other resources (wheat, sugar, and eggs) were used.
What is even more strange, I only experienced this the second time I made cakes. The first time was fine, I refilled the 6 empty buckets and went for the additional 2 cakes, then experienced the glitch.
I'm on Minecraft Bedrock Edition Realm on Survival accessing via an Xbox One.

still in 1.13.1

Haven't been able to replicate in 1.14.1

Seems fixed in 1.14.1 so wondering why this is still open?

I'm still having this issue in beta
When I try to move the milk bucket in my hotbar, if it is selected the milk disappears as soon as I click on it. If I select another hotbar item and then open my inventory and try to move the milk, I am able to.
