Confirmed in 1.14.0 on Windows 10. It appears that the spines on the sides of the cactus are being rendered, but the body isn't when viewed at a very shallow angle from a distance. The problem may be that the geometry of the spines defines them as larger than they really are, so that at shallow angles and great distances their bones overlap and cause the body side textures to be culled.
