Can't access or change skin while offline

When I am offline I am unable to access any of my skins. When I go to change my skin wherever a skin is supposed to be their is a loading bar that never goes away. This issue has been going on ever since the skin creator was released. I have so many skin packs too and I am unable to use any of them because of this bug.

I can also not select any skins when offline in v1.14.1 on my switch.

The problem is that the game has to connect to the marketplace before you can select a skin. This was not the case before the new character creator was implemented, then I could access all my owned skins when not connected to the internet.

This is a really big downfall for me, as I play this game on the go so I cannot connect it to the internet. I can't even choose between Steve or Alex, that's how bad it is.

With the 1.14.20 hotfix my characters with created and purchased skins now show a button for trying to reload instead of just a blank character, but I am getting new error messages on loading Minecraft without internet connection, and trying to select a skin hangs the game as noted in the original description of this report. Still happening on my Switch with version 1.14.30 and it's getting really annoying that I can only use 2 chars when I paid for a million skins....

This appears to be fixed for me in Windows 10 in 1.16. Is this still an issue for anyone else?

Yeah unfortunately still happening on Switch. It started after the 1.17.30 patch, and I'm not even able to switch between Steve or Alex, I just get a message saying I'm "not in the latest version and need to update", yet I'm on 1.17.32. Then if I hit update it gives me an error saying I'm not online and goes to an infinite loading screen that I've only been able to fix by closing the game.

Katherine Beam: please make a new report for you issue if it continues. The problem tracked on this report was fixed over a year ago and the report will not be reopened.

I have found that it is sometimes necessary to reboot the Switch to correct connection problems. To do this, hold down the sleep button for several seconds until a menu comes up. Select “Power Options”, then select restart. Also check that your Switch system software is updated to version 13.0.
