Falling block won't turn into an item with pistons

When sand falls onto a slab, it will normally turn into an item. However, when you put a piston below the slab, sand just falls on the slab, piling together.

Then, if you push the sand, it expands.

If you block the way, sand will not expand, but if you stand on the sand, you will be pushed far away as if the sand has expanded.(Like the stairs with a piston in the picture below)

Someone even built an ultra-fast transportation system with it!

However, it randomly crashes the game.

(Other blocks like gravel acts the same)

This is definitely intended behaviour and a really cool feature.

I agree with 77Tigers. It is a very useful mechanic, such as in this mob farm by NavyNexus. Java Edition has quasi-connectivity and zero-ticking, while Bedrock Edition has sand pushers and trident killers.

This is definitely NOT intended behavior.

Sometimes activating a lot of pistons at the same time also crashes the client(server works fine). Maybe the crash has something to do with the ticking mechanism.

Another strange behavior is that if you use the sand-piston based fast-transportation machine in a server, the user's game won't crash, but if you watch closely or stay within a few chunks to the machine, chances are that your game will crash.

And if this is definitely NOT intended behavior you’re about to lose you’re helping job when bedrock inevitably goes under @LateLag if you actually played the game and listened to the people who spend hours designing farms to help make bedrock edition playable (77tigers naveynax old guy yodolf)you would understand but instead you java favoriting bedrock devs are going to yank something WITH 0 UPVOTES you guys are going to loose anybody who actually plays bedrock hope you’re happy finding a new job

And the last thing I have to say before I go and cool off is a tip for the reporter of this issue. How about instead of listing this “bug” numerous times (only activity this person has just so happens to be on this issue and nothing else) how about ya just don’t do it? Kinda feels like this is a java player crying to me so that explains why it’s getting patched with no upvotes. This bedrock player is about done with this  Blatant favoritism

Hi Landry,

Please be respectful when posting in the JIRA, while this may have been helpful for you there is more to this bug than just the usefulness in some farms.

This mechanic crashes some devices and has been used to ruin the experience for players. While I agree that any loss of functionality can be frustrating there's usually reasoning behind it that we don't get to see. Its also important to note that everyone here are volunteers (sans anyone listed as "Minecraft" or "Mojang". We're just here to help keep the bug report system running smoothly.
