right!? At first was working. My sister in Texas have Switch and I got minecraft on IOS. The first days was awesome then it was so difficult To try to invite her. I can play with my son by LAN. But thats it. Its frustrated and I hate it.

Having same issue with the iPad and the other iPad is right in the other room. But they closed my ticket and said it was resolved because my report was invalid more like their game is invalid - what is more time I try to connect to my friend and actually play

This issue should NOT ever be closed until we can connect to private servers on ALL devices that claim to run "Bedrock" Edition. There are glitches you can do to make this work but its a real hassle. But, because you can exploit a glitch to make this work, i know it works. All we now need is the convenient menu options. Once we have this option, then we can advertise "Cross-platform" and not be lying. Maybe im just angered because of the fact that I just yesterday bought 2 more full price versions of Minecraft for 2 kids and a full bedrock Minecraft for my PC. Only to find out that....Nope, cant play together.

Hi @unknown,
Information from Mojang has indicated that the lack of custom servers on consoles is a restriction from the platform owners themselves (ie Nintendo, Sony and yes, even Microsoft). Your issue however is seperate from the OP's report which is in regards to device to device multiplayer.
While the code is all still there (evident by the ability to use workarounds as you mentioned) the platform owners will not certify an update for their platform without the option removed. This is something you would need to take up with those platform owners directly.
In anticipation of the oft used rebuttal, "but Microsoft makes Minecraft". There's no official confirmation but like any large company, each area has their own policies that not only internal teams must follow, but everyone that uses their platform. They can't make an exception for their own product without revisiting those rules. Its also important to keep in mind much of this is done to protect the younger Minecraft audience, while that may or may not be you and I, its an important piece of work.
Its called cross platform because it absolutely is one of the only games to be truly cross platform. This doesn't currently extend to private, dedicated servers and I can't speak to if it ever will (we're all volunteers here) but the general multiplayer aspect can work across all devices and Realms can be a way to facilitate that easily.
Finally, I'd ask you to be respectful when airing your grievances. While it might seem like you're just angry at a monolithic corporation, the devs, community managers and everyone else at Mojang care deeply about everyone who plays their game and are up against challenges we can't begin to understand.
All the best

[emesilva7] - Many of the issues experienced with, what I call, over-the-wire multiplayer (multiplayer with others across the internet rather on the local network in your house) come from issues with something called NAT. Its basically where your home modem doesn't forward the connections from other players through to your device (or whoever's device is hosting). MCPE-36190 has some tips and tricks that can help you work around that which could get you back up and running. Its also why multiplayer with your son works fine.
Issues with invitations not sending for some are currently tracked under MCPE-58759.
You're welcome to head to either or both of those and upvote the issues and leave a comment with any extra information that's needed.
While its obviously not a perfect solution for some, Realms can be an option to play with friends and removes many of the issues experienced with network connectivity issues.
As these issues have already been reported this one will be closed as a duplicate of those.
All the best in getting connected.

This is a HUGE issue actually. This isnt specific to iOS. The Bedrock edition, as i understand it, was made to connect all the various platforms that you can play Minecraft on. Something as simple as not having "add a server" in Xbox for example is just... neglect. There are so many services out there that advertise private servers for bedrock edition. Problem is is when you go to invite someone or add a server from xbox - you cant. Cross-platform is more of a challenge than it is fun. Im not sure what Minecraft looks like on iOS or Nintendo Switch but if its anything like the Xbox version - then I can assume you guys are having the same frustrations as me. I set out yesterday to start a private server for me and my 3 kids to play on. Im on PC, they have Xboxs. But from xbox, you cant add a private server. So.... jokes on me. I thought cross-platform was actually cross-platform. Im not sure what exactly we are calling cross-platform.
