Summary:
I am unable to receive invitations.
Steps To Reproduce: (Two devices and two Microsoft accounts required, referred to as 1 and 2)
1. Open a world on 1 and set it to "Invite Only"
2. Pause the world and invite 2
Observed Results:
The invitation does not arrive at 2's device, and so, 2 cannot join 1's world
Expected Results:
The invitation does arrive, and so, 2 can join.
Affected Platforms (keep updated):
Android
Switch
Windows 10
Xbox One
Original Description:
Everytime someone sends me an invite to their world, not realms, I do not receive the invite. No notification. I tried messing with my XBL settings to no prevail. When I send invites, they receive. This has been happening since 1.13.1? I just want to be able to receive an invite again. I do not know if it is replicable as it happened out of the blue.
Reported on Windows 10, Switch and mobile

If you cannot receive invites from the player that is trying to send the invite to you, the I recommend that you try doing these steps:
1. Turning both of your devices off and wait 10 seconds and then turn both of your devices back on again.
2. Check your internet. If your internet is off or not working for some reason, then fix the internet problem however you can or you will not be able to send each other invites.
3. Check if the person that is trying to send invites is signed in, and the person that is trying to receive the invite is signed in. I hope this helps 🙂

This doesn’t help... I have done all three of these... it is simply not possible to receive an invite on the consoles this affects...

I made sure to check all the settings in Xbox account (there's only one setting responsible for this as far as I can tell), and everything set up properly on both ends. Clearing app data and cache, as well as reinstalling the game, does not resolve the issue.

Affects 1.16.0.63 beta

Same issue here! Started on Tuesday (23rd Of June 2020) when 1.16 came out. Just minutes before updating on both our devices, i sent an invite to join and was successful however minutes after updating and inviting nothing shows up on the receiving end of the invite. All connections are fine and have re-downloaded the game on both devices.. Nothing.. Any help or fix would be appreciated. 🙂
( P.S - I do not receive invites from them. The only way i can play with them is on a server.. 😞 )

Same issue. Sending an invite doesn't work, there's no notification for invite, it doesn't show up in Friends tab, nothing 😞
XBOX privacy settings are all set to Allow

I found that I needed to configure my router to forward ports in order to get a friend to connect to my machine, that may be the solution you need also. i.e. the person sending the invitation should configure port forwarding to their machine.
The following is my configuration which has resolved it for me.

We logged this problem in June since the new update. We are not playing via a server so the above fix cannot work. Any other suggestions would be great. Playing minecraft multiplayer for my small boy has been a lifeline during lockdown and he is so upset that he can't do this anymore 😞

this is related to MCPE-36190

Affects versions 1.16.100.54 and 1.16.40

Affects 1.16.100.55 beta

Affects 1.16.100.60

I confirm this affects 1.16.40. Friend on same version and I play on PCs (Windows 10). I used to get invitations from him no problem. Now not so. Another issue is no friends appear in my Friends tab, even though I know they are online – although I appear in his Friends tab.

Affects PS4 (my friend plays on it and I never received any invitation). Probably it affects all other platforms (mobile iOS and android, Xbox, Gear VR, Fire TV, etc).

I have this problem too, I play with Amazon Fire 10 HD and sideloaded the Google Play store to play Minecraft. I've never had any app notification problems from sideloading the Google store, so it's kinda disappointing that of all apps it's Minecraft that I won't get any notifications from. I tried downloading the Xbox app to see if that would fix the problem, but to my chagrin, it fixed nothing. I also have the problem of not being able to see friends when I know they're online.

I’m having this problem too. On mobile, latest update. Says I’m offline even though I’m not, my settings are fine. Can’t play with my friends anymore and it’s ruining our games

I'm not getting any invites on my android tablet either! I hope they fix this.

Tried everything, still cannot recieve any invites, i cant even join any of my friends world using LAN or using different wifi, hope this getting fixed soon

I also can't receive invites on an Samsung Android tablet but friends on iOS can...

I have this problem sometimes between my PC and Switch. I can almost always resolve it by fully closing Minecraft, verifying each device is connected to the internet, and reopening Minecraft. In general, Minecraft always loses login/connection when switching apps or going to home screen (unless you have it in windowed mode on PC) and the only way to reconnect is to fully restart the app. (See MCPE-110396 and MCPE-19393.)
If you have this issue you should also check your Microsoft/XBoxLive account settings related to notifications and invites.

I've checked everything, all settings are normal, I've tested it on several accounts and devices running Android, Windows 10, and Switch. I never receive any invites and I know all the settings are right. It's something wrong with minecraft. Every once and a while I will get invites on my windows 10 but my Android never receives any. I am a tech wiz and I know that everything is set up correctly.

Still an issue on my Android device

Affects Xbox One

Can anyone confirm this happening on iOS? On my friend's iPad, this does not occur.

No, it only occurs on android, my friends IOS device always gets invites

Yup, definitely only in android.. Both of us (me and my friend) tried to send eachother an invite (diff. Time) but we don't get any notifications. And so we can't play in eachother's world even tho we both have great wifi and network connections. This is definitely a glitch. Me and my friend tried to enter eachother's worlds but it just says "unable to connect to world" everytime we do it without invites.

The issue without invites is MCPE-36190.

When I send invitations, they don't receive. And when they send, I don't receive either. I can't see their world on the friends tab, and they can't see mine either. They sometimes appear online and sometimes they don't, even thought they are indeed online. (Android platform)

My multiplayer on Minecraft for Android v1.16.221 automatically turns off when I start my world and because of this, I can't send invite. So please Mojang developers, repair this bug or else I can't play Multiplayer with my friends.

Aryi Das: your issue is tracked at MCPE-43626.

I'm also having this problem for a long long time. It's really annoying if you want that only one or two of your friends can acces your world without having to play with LAN.

Omg yes it's so annoying and it's been happening for a good while now. I cannot have anyone join my world. I tried with 4 people and none of them can join. I'm on android and the settings are all good. Multiplayer is on and i send my invite but it never appears in the joinable friend's when they log in and they never get notified. My xbox privacy settings is also good as i allow everything. I don't understand why. This is a serious bug, multiplayer is pretty much not functional and i tried contacting them and they haven't responded!
This may have been fixed in the most recent beta version - if anyone could verify that would be most helpful.

@JayWells yes it fixed it for me, thanks for all the hard work!

As of 1.17.30, This bug has been fixed.
