Minecraft: Win. 10 Issue: My W key won't work properly.

Hi, I would like to report a bug which is affecting my game and ability to enjoy Minecraft.

You see. my keys work perfectly fine everywhere else. I am a WASD gamer.and I use these controls.

However. in Minecraft. W is odd, and when I use it to run for a certain amount of time. It's as if the key is stuck in Minecraft, and it continues to move until it randomly stops. Then the moving is back to normal, etc. It repeats.

It's even worse that when it continues makes me walk, If I open my inventory, settings a chest, or anything else. It takes seconds to MINUTES before I can move with my W key again.

If someone could. please try and look into this issue. It only affects Minecraft, too. no other games.

Maybe a problem with your keyboard, you might need to clean the dust and gravel on your keyboard. If you can't, look at https://windowsreport.com/keyboard-automatically-typing-windows-10/

No, no, I tried reinstalling and uninstalling the driver. I tried to clear the dust and gravel and stuff out. It still doesn't work. It's ONLY Minecraft too, No other game does this.

I've not seen any other reports for this on Windows 10 which would usually indicate a device based issue (I understand you mentioned it only happens in Minecraft but I would expect waves of reports if this was a widespread problem).

What kind of device are you running on? Does it generally struggle with Minecraft (for example, when it does work, is it slow and jittery?).

Unfortunately I dont expect much could be done with this report as is unless others came in for the same issue.

Same problem here. "Minecraft expert" tech support told me to uninstall/reinstall. Didn't fix it. Cannot duplicate in any other program, i.e. Word, etc. so I don't think it's a keyboard issue.

I am still experiencing this issue. Like the original poster said, this is not a problem with the keyboard and lag does not seem to be the problem as every other key works with no problem.Β

Steps to Reproduce:
1. User sprints or simply walks forward for a short period of time using the "w" key.
2. User lets go of "w" key.

Observed Results:
The user continues to walk forward even though the "w" is not held down. Β Additionally, if the "s" key is held, the user wont move at all, as if both "w" and "s" are held down.

Expected Results:
The user should stop moving when no keyboard input is being used.Β

The Original poster also addressed the issue of opening an inventory or chest while this automatic walk is taking place. If the user is stuck in this continuous walk forward and opens an interacts with any object, the w key will take extended period of time to even be usable again. Once again, every other key works except "w." I can walk backwards and sideways, use the mouse all without lag. The sole issue is with the "w" key.Β
