I haven't seen anyone on YouTube or elsewhere that's mentioned this issue which led me to believe it may have been an issue with my keyboard, but after more tests on other games, I isolated it ONLY to Minecraft Bedrock after I updated to 1.16.
For the first few moments I'm loaded into the world, the game doesn't accept any input from my keyboard at all. Once it begins accepting input, it often doesn't register that I'm not still pressing a key, leading me to walking straight in one direction... sometimes off cliffs. As well as that, it'll miss many keystrokes and sometimes even repeat what it did in the beginning. This has never been an issue before and it makes the game totally unplayable, especially in a world filled with oceans of lava. I've heard that there is no such issue on Java edition, but I simply don't have a system capable of running it decently at all.
As for troubleshooting, aside from testing in other games, I've reinstalled the drivers for both my wireless mouse and keyboard and clean installed Minecraft, then loading into a fresh world. I thought it may have been an issue with the game becoming more demanding, so I gave it high priority in the system. None of this eliminated the issue.
Update (6/25, edited 6/28): Based on further research and independent testing, I've concluded it is likely a chunk rendering issue. The issue doesn't exist after creating a "Flat" OR "Old" type world as long as you remain in the overworld. The idea is that the "Old" world type only generates a set amount of blocks and doesn't continue while the "Flat" world type has no complexity in its generation. On some high performance computers, lowering render distance may remedy the situation in an "Infinite" (default) type world and, on others, this issue may not exist at all.

i have the same issue. I play on desktop with a Keyboard and mouse combo. i have full keyboard imput disabled. While in nether moving is very buggy. i stop holding w but keep moving forwards.
Update on my above comment...
I went to the video settings and unchecked the anti-aliasing just to try something different...the movement issues worsened. So i reset the anti-aliasing and looked at the chunks rendering bar next. It was set at 64, so I reduced it and noticed that my gameplay was fixed! I went to set it back to 64 just to see if the problem returned and found that I couldn't...the new maximum is now 44, and I couldn't put it back to 64 even if I wanted to. However, when I went in to check gameplay after setting it to the new maximum of 44, I noticed that I still no longer had any movement issues. Hope this helps others with the keyboard movement problems.
Thanks Michele, I tried the steps you suggested! Although this didn't solve my issue, this might show that it can happen for multiple reasons. That'd probably be important in developing a fix that works for all.
Sorry it didn't work for you!
I went back into my game today and once again had the same movement/lag problem. I redid the steps I mentioned:
1) Reduced chunks to 24,
2) Reduced Anti-aliasing to 1
3) Clicked 'off' the texel anti-aliasing
Then resumed my game, saw everything working well again, and went back into settings and reset my settings to what they were when first opened the game:
1) Returned chunks to 44
2) Returned Anti-aliasing to 8
3) Clicked the texel anti-aliasing back 'On'
Once again, resuming my game let me play without the keyboard lag. Shame this didn't work for you, but hopefully it gives a clue as to what may fix the problem for all affected by it! In the meantime, I guess I will have to do this each time before extended gameplay.
The one way i resolved this issue us by getting a new laptop i think it was because the game became too ‘advanced’ and my old laptop couldnt handle that so for a £30 game i spent £600 to get a new laptop
This probably is the same issue with #MCPE-98861, since the RenderDragon update for PC it is basicaly unplayable. This also affects mobile when using a gamepad.
Vitor Gabriel, Your link of MCPE-98861 actually goes to MCPE-85756. Mojira should automatically link the right page when you include a bug tracker code, so you don't need to use the built-in Link feature provided by Atlassian.
I have the same issue you have described and tried the same steps to resolve it with no success. I play on a laptop and use a keyboard/mouse combination. I have the same issue with old saves as well as with newly created worlds since the update. It is like there is a lag between keyboard command and game recognition of that command at times. Once, I tried 'shimmying' the mouse and making various keystroke direction changes while stuck in that forward movement only to have those same moves acted out after a brief delay (after I had already removed my hands from the keyboard). When I went to a friend's realm, I did not have the movement problem...it seems to be only on my generated worlds, which is odd. So I have been able to enjoy the nether update while playing on friends realms but not on any my worlds, old or new.
