Villagers not accepting professions

On our realm (small family owned only), since we have updated our villagers with no profession are not accepting a profession. They are in a room with a valid block which we have removed and replaced several times but they will not accept it. We have tried smithing station, lecterns, and composters but they will not accept them. A third villager we bred accepted the smoker and became a butcher with no problem.

Hello Adam! Is your villager a nitwit? It has a green robe on with no badges on its hip. If so then those types of villagers specifically will never get a job. Can you send a picture or screenshot of the affected villager?

Do you have any resource packs or behavior packs applied to the world?

Hi folks, thanks. Definately not a nitwit; just a browncoat villager. It randomly bred when the villagers desynched from beds as they frequently do.

I only had a 'clean redstone' and 'transparent pumpkin' resource pack on. I was unable to connect to realms when I started testing for my reply, so I tried on a backup I downloaded of the current world last night after finishing.

The villager accepted a trade (both lectern and smithing station), multiple times, straight off the bat with the download, with the packs active.
I then removed and added the resource packs in varing combinations; both they were still accepting trades.

When the realms came back up earlier I logged on leave both resource packs connected and the villager did not accept the trade first time, but then when I did it again immediately did.
I am totally lost for what to say. I spent hours testing this before submitting a bug report, as it was repeating over several days play, but now it is just working.

Is it possible just something janky with the realm? The villagers; particularly the beds which keep desynching relentlessly is so frustrating, and the proffession blocks doing the same is nearly as bad?

It is possible for an unemployed villager to link to a workstation incompletely if another villager had been linked to it and was then dropped from the dweller's list, either by being killed or by being left in an unloaded chunk for too long. This is the first step in two other bugs, MCPE-62080 and MCPE-56889. The dropping from the dweller's list also explains why your villagers are desynching from their beds. That happens with workstations too, and you may find your villagers reshuffling their job sites if you have extra villagers or more than one villager of a type. That's tracked at MCPE-43071 and MCPE-46157. Are you are spending a lot of time 60-80 blocks from the center of your village?
