PlayStation: Editions button has disappeared.

Is Mojang going to put the editions button back or not? We are tyring to get back to ALL the worlds and builds we had and cant get there and there wasn't any warning. I am truly disheartened! 

Aubrey Martinez I think they won't since they officially discontinued Legacy Console Edition and PS4 Edition was part of that.

I MAY HAVE A SOLUTION!!!! Now this problem has happened to both me and my friend and the method, I'm about to share, fixed it for both of us. Now I'm going to list the steps because that will be easier to read. to access your Minecraft saves go to settings->storage->system storage-> internal storage (the one in the ps4) -> save data ->Minecraft

1) I would HIGHLY recommend you back-up your Minecraft save to a USB. Also copy all of your saved storage on ps plus to the system so if you mess up you can fix it) deleting all your saves will not help you and will permanently break your Minecraft

2)(optional) Make sure there are no saves on a different ps4 under your account. If there is copy it over to your primary Ps4

3) Now go to your Minecraft save data. you will notice there are some pictures of Alex's face with a gear next to it. Select all the boxes above and including the picture of Alex with the gear. delete them now (THIS WILL WIPE ANYTHING YOU DID ON BEDROCK )(you may be able to bring the bedrock worlds back if you have them on a USB and bring the world saves (not the Alexes) back after the tutorial.

4)Now scroll down, you may notice there are some pictures of steve with diamond armor, the first time there are 2 of them and the second time there are three of them. Now between the 2 of them and 3 of them is there a picture/ save data that is the same as you would have if you first made the world/ a landscape that you did not leave the game looking at. if yes select it and everything above it. If not send an image to this chat and I will be happy to tell you what to delete. What the weird landscape was was a bad save causing the game to mess up and later on cause the game to think you don't have ps4 Minecraft. (NOTE anything you delete will be gone (in case you were unsure)).

5) Restart Ps4

6)Boot up Minecraft

7)Happy face, if not chat in this server so I can of someone else can assist.

8) Make fun of Mojang for having a kid figure it out and not them 🙂 (I love you Minecraft still)

this fix works for the digital version of the game as well 🙂

If I don't use a USB I Have a huge chance on damaging minecraft? Also I have Digital Verison

the reason the USB is there is so if you make a mistake you can go back, it won't break Minecraft deleting too many saves or too little but could ruin your chances of ever getting PS4 Minecraft back. If you have PS plus I believe if you are fast enough you can redownload your saves if you make a mistake. send me a pic of what you are about to delete and I will comment 🙂 (Also without a USB you cant get bedrock worlds back)

Yes, it works digitally. I have the game digitally and it worked for me.

Hey I don't have 3 Steve and I'm not sure what you mean by landscapes and selections

I notice your Minecraft saves 2 saves per save with the size of 16.78. Now the only time this did not happen was in the save SurvivalGamePlay2 5/17/2020, there are 3 saves, one being 67 mb! now what you need to do is delete all the saves sbovethe red line as shown in the pic. If this does not work I have one more idea

are the 2 steves the only ones you have? If yes delete up to the steves UNLESS it is the last past of your save. the pictures are not in order so I'm trying to piece the pictures together.

if this does not work redownload the backup saves onto the console so we can start fresh.

ok, delete everything above the steves, including the steves

and I can do discord, but deleting these steves should fix the game, hopefully, just don't forget to restart the console

1.Delete All Alex's With Gear
2.Delete The Steve's (bc I deleted the world's which is good)
3.Restart PS4
4. It Should Work?

as long as you deleted everything above the steves as well you should be all set. If not there are still many things we can do.

Try deactivating stuff in global resources, since a resource pack might be hiding the button.

Up until yesterday I could switch between versions, Now the button is gone. I've played on Legacy for years but What? Am I supposed to update to bedrock? I bought and paid for Legacy Edition Yet now I'm stuck with bedrock... There's not much to say, Besides I'm hoping you can Give Us The Button Back, or Split The Games To fix this bug. I played on Legacy for amplified worlds and if I update to bedrock Any new terrain will no longer be amplified, Bedrock still lacks features Legacy had 5 years ago, Most likely because it's a phone port but I digress, That why I chose to still play Legacy Edition. Please help out us OG players get back to mining. Sadly it's reaching close to 2 years on this bug report and nothing so far, but hopefully this will bring a little more attention toward this issue and a solution.

I encountered this bug too when I played split-screen with a PS4 account signed into PlayStation Network who's primary PS4 did not have legacy console edition. The strange thing was that all of my other accounts signed into my PS4 still have the [Editions] button. It was only my account, the one that played split-screen with the non-legacy console account, that got the button removed.

The first picture is of an unaffected account on my PS4, and the second picture is of my affected account. Both of these screenshots came from the same version of Minecraft, the same day, and the same PS4.

Can we get an update if this is ever going to get fixed? As now we know an editor button is being added Yet after waiting 2 years we still don't have access to editions. 

If the developers won't fix a bug, they will mark the status as "RESOLVED" and the resolution as "Won't Fix." An example of this is MCPE-39299. It seems that they have still left the status up as open, meaning they are not actively fixing the bug yet, but they may in the future. All we can do is get everyone that has experienced something like this to vote for this issue and to add more details about it to try to reach a conclusion.

Yeah I definitely have the same problem too I lost my editions button after I updated for 1.19 I had it before when it was 1.18. it seems like with certain bedrock updates it wipes the addition button and mainly put the bedrock edition

It would probably take a few days to fix this... but after years of waiting we got nothing. Does mojang even know this has happened. Or is it because we're only 5 percent of the player base so we get ignored.

I do have the disc version and have owned it before the digital one and have lost my editions button. Cannot get it back.

I feel like Mojang needs to do better by not saying the ticket is resolved. when it's not. there is not a step-by-step report on how to fix it and there are a lot of us that do not have the editions button anymore. I've played Minecraft when it was PlayStation 4 edition till now. I heard there's one way where someone who still has the editions shares plays with you. I don't know how good that one is but before they drop the new update for 1.20 would they at least fix the editions buttons for everyone. I do miss the PVP games. Their recommended servers don't have all the stuff that editions have. Plus, you got to download an app to go ahead and play other bedrock servers. Which is another disappointment

Avoid going to Playstation Support as they seem to believe Editions is a removed feature and is no longer accessible which is a blantant lie.
To save anyone reading this a headache with Mojang and PS Support both being equally useless. I was sent a step by step from PS.

1) Back up your saved data.
2) Application Data Management,
3) Delete Minecraft and select all. Then Delete.
4) Deactivate the PlayStation as a primary console/ for offline gameplay.
5) if more than one account owns Minecraft, you should try and deactivate these profiles.
6) Download Minecraft again
7) Launch Minecraft again

This didn't work for me personally but it's the only "help" I was given from either company. The past month I was sent in circles and told that both companies couldn't help me. Seems I have permanently lost access to the game i paid for so good luck to anyone who sees this.

tldr: Minecraft doesn’t realise that you own the og disk.

Neither Mojang nor PlayStation have any idea what is happening, but I have a suspicion. This issue only seems to affect players that own both the og ps4 version, and a digital copy of the new Minecraft. I think they might have coded the game such that the second you get the new version, it inadvertently locks you out of editions despite what the disk says. This would also explain why fully wiping your Minecraft save data would reset it, as Minecraft wouldn’t know that you own 2 copies. Seems like a really simple fix, Minecraft just needs to check to see what disk is running in the disk drive. Or the even simpler solution, just let us use editions on any PlayStation despite ownership of the og disk, that would fix everything.

Kuraudo, thanks for your post hoping mojang at least bats an eye at this bug now after 4 years. I have some more information i'd like to provide. For me I owned it on disc AND bought it digitally, both pre bedrock. I lost access on PS5 a few months ago (Roughly when Minecraft Preview launched). I only recently lost access on my PS4, that console was previously offline due to not being used. While the console was offline I had access to Editions, updating my System Software and connecting it to the internet the button disappeared. I specifically updated the console and NOT Minecraft to try and avoid this.  This leads me to believe it's an issue with my account.

TEXT BELOW IS PURELY SPECULATION

In the EU, the PS4 Edition and Bedrock Edition both share the same serial code of CUSA00265. I'm unsure if this is the case for other regions. Looking in "manage game content" on my PS4 & PS5, I can see a DLC called "Minecraft Full Entitlement". Then looking at sites such as OrbisPatches or SerialStation and taking a look at the addon content publicly listed as available for CUSA00265, I can see "Minecraft Full Entitlement" which has the Content ID "BEDROCKSECRET000".

I have asked a few friends who STILL HAVE EDITIONS to look in their "Manage Game Content" and from the people I've asked, none of them have this addon present in their list. Once again this leads me to believe that it's a licensing issue on my account, and as my PS4 lost access AFTER connecting to the internet, it further backs up my theory.

If this "full entitlement" addon is what is causing me issues, I would assume that Mojang has no control over this. But as PlayStation refuses to assist, I would need someone from Mojang to directly confirm my suspicion so I can take the evidence to PS to have this resolved.

Since the issue has been in the game through so many updates and hotfixes and theres just no communication between any support team, I would appreciate just an update since PlayStation support straight up lies about something thats stated on the FAQs for the game.

I think if they can't get the Editions button back, they could do what they did for Nintendo Switch and have the 4J release as a separate game on the store which remained available for previous owners. Then this couldn't even be considered a bug affecting the current Bedrock version, it would actually be working as intended.

The more concerning part is that there are reports of this happening to people who have the original PS4 Edition disc who are also having this issue. No amount of rebuilding my database, deleting and restoring save data and reinstalling the game have proven useful to me and many others.

No I owned the game on disc in 2018, then bought it digitally in June 2019. I haven't owned or played it on disc since. Both of these were before bedrock was on PS. My post I was referring to reports (including yours) that i had seen from other people.

I found a youtube video that suggested downloading from an account that purchsed the game before Dec 2019 and playing on an account that doesn't have a PSN linked to it but this also doesn't work for me. I have tried downloading from three accounts that all purchased Minecraft before 2019 and all downloads include the "full entitlement" addon and do not feature an editions button

Following the initial advice given to me by Mojang I bought the game on disc. The 2014 release of the game with Steve in diamond armour on the front cover.

After installing it from the disc the editions button still doesn't appear. Even the "correct" way to play this game doesn't work.

30-5-24: PlayStation have agreed to process a refund as a result of this missing button. I would advise anyone having this issue with the digital version to attempt to do the same. Since my purchase was refunded, using my disc copy of the game displays the Editions button like normal.

As far as attempting at recreating this bug, to avoid this post being deleted, I deleted all accounts off my PS4 except my own account to avoid any account to avoid any conflicting licenses and redownloaded the game. The "Full Entitlement" addon is still present on PS4 but not on PS5. Editions button was still missing at this point. I noticed downloading the game digitally on PS4, the XMB displays the legacy game icon until the game finishes downloading. However downloading it on PS5, it displays as the Bedrock icon from the beginning. Even when using the disc, unless I'm offline when I install it from the disc.

It's quite confusing as your game seems to work differently than mine. I do notice how our scenarios are slightly different. For me even on other accounts that don't own Minecraft, the Editions button is missing. This occurs with the 2014 disc and from the digital download (Purhcased pre bedrock).

I am mid way through trying a fix, a recently uploaded youtube video stated that you need to have 5 hours played on the PS4 Edition to get it to show up. Over the last few days I've had my console completely offline playing and sitting AFK in the 1.00 version from the disc. I'm using 2 accounts, one owns Minecraft digitally and the other does not. Hoping to see a resolution on either account at this point.

I have however tried your method of joining an invite from someone in Editions but this does not work for me, joining the invite will result in a "this lobby is no longer available" message. Also your mention of it being tied to a digital purchase is interesting, as I have friends who still have Editions and they mentioned it being because of a digital deluxe version that you can buy on the store.

This deluxe edition contains the aforementioned "Full Entitlement", and also contains "Minecraft" + "Minecraft PS4 Edition" as separate titles.  

Seeing the game listed twice here, as two different games, completely contradicts what PlayStation Support said in an email to me. They claim that bedrock is just the latest update of the game, and not a separate title.

Looking at the base Minecraft store page, the "What's inside" only lists "Minecraft" and "Full Entitlement. This just begs the question though, why was my account even affected? Both instances of Minecraft that I use are both pre Bedrock.

Personally, after already having paid for the game twice and still being unable to play Editions, I don't particularly fancy paying for the deluxe bundle to find out of it works. Although I wouldn't even be able to as I already own the base game digitally.

I've been trying all the workarounds I've been able to find, on PS4 and PS5. So far I'm the same as you where none have worked. Using the disc or digital download there has been no difference in my troubleshooting. Currently waiting for a reply from PlayStation Support again.
