In Java edition Nether update, now swords can't "break" fire in creative mode to match the other blocks in the same case, but in Bedrock Edition this behavior doesn't exist and players can break fire with sword in creative.
Steps to Reproduce:
Light a block on fire
In Creative mode, mine the fire with a sword or trident
Observed Results:
The fire is extinguished.
Expected Results:
The fire should not be extinguished.

@unknown Since fire now has a hitbox in JE, it should be impossible to "break" it with a sword.

For Java it might be a bug, that you can’t break it with a sword in creative mode. MC-189653

Still an issue.
By “break” fire, do you mean put it out? In Bedrock you can put out fire with any item or an empty hand. If you can’t in Java then I’d say Java has a bug.
It would help if you could give more information about Java behavior and how it was changed. Not all of the bug tracker staff play both versions.
