I played Minecraft that morning on an older version and my phone was just fine but as soon as i update it, my phone would get incredibly hot to the point where it's unplayable. i play on an iPhone XR ( which is only a year old). I also play with bluetooth headphones and controller. The gameplay is fine, i don't lose fps, but my phone itself just heats up to unsettling temperatures.

Original Summary:
For some reason every since i update my phone to the latest minecraft update, my phone would get extremely hot, to the point where my phone has to stop all activity and tell me my phone has gotten incredibly hot.
In addition to Urielsalis' comment, do you have additional texture packs applied? Does the issue persist if you remove them?
In a similar vein, does this occur with a new world or only an existing, built up world?
I have had the same situation. iPhone 11 Pro Max on the most recent iOS and I have a very light case, but I’ve also had the issue when I’ve taken the case off. Phone gets hot where it never did before and causes the phone to limit brightness. Also causes significant battery drain. Way more so than before the update to 1.16.20 I have no mod packs or data packs. Also not playing while charging my phone. Before the update this was never a concern, it only happened right after i downloaded 1.16.20. I have to most recent iPhone, if it cannot handle the game then I think something must be wrong.
Can confirm, running vanilla textures & 0 behavior packs. My chipset overheats on both my samsung a71uw & dell pc running windows 10, whereas before I was running the game flawless with 0 heat issues prior to 1.16.20
As far as I can tell, it has the most issues on a local world, but realms & lan worlds are definitely warmer after the update
Marked as fixed in 1.16.100, definitely not the case. Same as before, however now the game runs slow in addition to being hot
Samsung Galaxy A71 5G UW running 1.16.100
@unknown this issue is for iOS devices only. I'd recommend to create this issue for android users as this report is only mentioning it for iOS devices.
The ticket simply has to be updated, as this bug encompasses multiple platforms. A new ticket would simply be marked as duplicate as it has been in the past
Are you using a case or in a really hot room? Both can mean that the phone cannot ventilate properly and any demanding app is going to overheat it(specially if you are also charging it)
