So in the latest beta 1.13.0.16 there is a bug fix that says "Partially fixed an issue that caused global resources not to be applied after relaunching the game". So maybe this means it was fixed in this beta or 1/2 fixed which I'm not sure how that would work. but it's good to point that out anyways.
So why was console edition different? The light would disappear at Max chunk distance, for me playing on Switch that should be 14 chunks of visibility for Bedrock, whatever function the beacon works on needs to be changed into its own unique function so when everything around the beacon disappears when further away you can still see the light, gotta do something instead of just leaving a broken beacon in the game u know🤷
Well I can see this has been updated so could it be fixed anytime soon? I'd like to use beacons again..
@Auldrick I used to have way to many but I got rid of alot of them awhile ago and my fps was better, it's not bad right now I can play with it it's just lower than I expected. I do still have a fair amount of entities tho.
@Auldrick unfortunately the Switch can't save worlds to different location, the only way of restoring worlds is downloading back the cloud save, my framerate is fine when I'm away from my main area which also is underground so that could be causing the fps drops. I remember Gartzke saying more fixes are in the works for Switch so I'm gonna wait for those to see what's improved. But thanks for your help with everything I'm happy this is ending now.
The final thing I want to say with my testing is I am getting unusual frame drops in single player which is less the amount I get usually. My world is old and 250MB but I do see a difference that isn't normal, I think if that can be improved then it will be fine again and also my friend is getting constant crashes when joining my world but that might need a different bug report.
So I've done more testing and I'm playing on my world from the downloaded data that had the bugs/freezing and for me it looks like the freeze bug is gone! im only getting a bit more noticeable framedrops in my world but maybe that's because it's 250MB or the amount of item frames etc in it. but I'm satisfied with what's been fixed (I'm not sure what that disconnecting thing is cause I haven't gotten that yet but maybe a new report can be made for that) thanks everyone for being so helpful along the way including the mods for passing on things to the team. I can finally get back to playing what I love again😊
Are we changing the status to fixed straight away? I haven't tested gameplay properly yet so there might still be something left. Or if I just got lucky last night with no freezing.
So I downloaded back my cloud data and I'm playing on my World but I'm gonna report back on gameplay tommorow cause it's late, I will say that I haven't gotten any freezes so if other people can test that when you can turn we'll know for sure.
It's 2:30am here in Europe and can't see the update, maybe later
Edit: updating now, I'm gonna restore my cloud data with my worlds to test if the freezing is fixed, if it isn't I'll just use my temporary data till 1.13
The update doesn't arrive on Switch until probably tommorow so the thing I want fixed in this update is the Freeze bug along with other performance improvements so Worlds can be played on again by downloading our data back from the cloud. I'd be very disappointed if that wasn't fixed in this update
The game just feels like brand new, smooth 60fps like William said, fast menu clicks and no freezing at all. It feels like when I first downloaded the game when it released last year. only sacrifice for now is playing on our Worlds but I'm fine with that while we wait for a fix.
@Auldrick thank you this is a big step to resolving these problems.
@Auldrick as far as I know restoring save data from the cloud restores everything in the game but for Minecraft it's just Worlds and I think Realms, everything else purchased is saved on your Microsoft account. But you can turn off automatic cloud save so your temporary new data won't overwrite your actual save data that is affected by the bugs.
I just restored my save data and I got the performance issues back and the freeze bug so yeah Cool Guy your right, this looks like a temporary fix for now and I think the bugs have something to do with Switch save data but that's what the devs have to look into and fix but I think it's good if that can be passed on by a Mod to the developers because it's useful info.
So I just deleted my save data and deleted the software on my Switch and reinstalled without restoring my data from the Cloud and I'm currently testing gameplay:
1. Performance in servers feels as smooth as ever, it's like 60fps locked (signed into same Microsoft account)
2. Menus/interactions are very fast unlike before where it takes 10 seconds to open a menu or click a button.
3. Currently have no freezes but only a few frame drops in single player which I'm playing currently. honestly the game feels like brand new! (this is without download packs from the store and only 1 world) now I'm not sure what would happen if I restored my data cause I think that mightve been whats causing the freezing and other performance bugs. Now I'm still waiting for the freeze bug to appear which is my biggest problem. I'll keep this updated because I have hope after this testing.
Yeah that's why I removed that comment, my bad. I just don't know if it saves worlds so I'm a bit scared to test it and see if anything gets fixed for me, cause the game feels a bit like 1.9 for me in single player.
@Miguel Avelar: does the Switch cloud save your worlds if you backup your data on cloud them delete your game data and restore after redownloading the game?
@Michael Tramel: I assume you don't own a Switch, because it would be obvious to you that all first party games are 60fps and some 3rd party games that have been optimized for that framerate but not all of them. I did a basic explanation to Auldrick because he said he wasn't an expert on the matters.
This is still an issue I have on the latest update
