To add to ArchThunders analysis I downloaded the testworld, copied the data from the chart, added two more devices and resorted the devices to compare RTX GPUs vs. non-RTX GPUs.
I think this way it shows strikingly how broken the performance is on RTX GPUs even when compared with integrated graphics cards, desktop GPUs or even the iPhone.

Hi ArchThunder,
I am also after this performance issue for almost 2 years now and have performed the tests with your testworld (I get almost identical results as your device 1, using an RTX 2070).
Can you provide the table such that I can include my testing data (I am planning to include more devices).
Also, I would like to sort the table with respect to the GPU (i.e. RTX cards vs non-RTX cards) to stress, that the issue comes from using RTX cards.
Thanks and best,
Anzestral

On your comment: "Please keep comments here focused on adding new information about the bug. Discussion beyond that scope should be taken somewhere else."

Just so you know, due to the lack of communication here, this issue is being discussed at other places (e.g. within multiple reddit threads and in comments of youtube videos). At those places paying customers are desperately trying to fix this issue themselves, without any help from the developers.

How much more information do the developers need? This thread was started almost 2 years ago! How has this serious problem not been fixed yet? Why is there no information or any kind of comment from the mods or the developers that the issue is at least looked at? It would also help if you or some developer could comment on what information we should provide or what kind of additional tests we should to, to help fixing your software.

To be honest, I find it exceptionally frustrating that there is little to none communication from the developers on this issue.

I don't know if THIS issue is, but there certainly is an RTX card problem.

I have different PCs and know multiple people with both GTX and RTX cards.
Playing on the same server (in the same area) with the same texture packs (even with default texture) all PCs with RTX cards experience severe fps drops while none of the PCs with GTX cards has any problems.

For me, this bug appeared around 1,5 years ago with the introduction of render dragon. To be honest, I find it embarrassing that such an issue can persist for this long without a fix, especially as it hits people with highest end systems. Me, my wive and multiple of our friends stopped playing on our many years old world as we can hardly move around near our bases without getting dizzy from the below 15 fps...

Edit: As I posted in other threads (see e.g. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MCPE-137537), for me the fps drop mainly with multiple items on the ground, or many other entities loaded (dropped items, filled item frames, armor stands, mobs).

I have a similar problem, but it seems to be caused by different kinds of entities (dropped items, filled item frames, armor stands, mobs). If multiple of such entities are on the screen (or at least in the looking direction, even when behind walls) the fps drop significantly from around 140-165 fps (capped at monitor refresh rate) to anything ranging from 70 fps (for some 10th of entities) to below below 5 fps for very large numbers of entities (> few hundreds). When turning away from the entities, fps rise nearly instantaneous and drop quickly when facing the entities again. The problem seems to be worse for higher resolution texture packs, but is also very noticeable with the default textures.
The problem is not affected by draw distance, but the entity render distance. When going sufficiently far away from a group of entities (such that only few of them are rendered) the fps increase noticeably.

I assume it is an issue with the old and new generation RTX GPUs as the problem occurs on two powerful computers (using RTX 2070 and RTX 3080) while the issue does not occur on a much less powerful machine (using GTX 1060).

I added 4 images (400 empty item frames, 400 filled item frames, 400 armour stands, 100 villagers) showing, how the fps drop significantly in the last three cases.

Does noone else have this problem?

It also happebs for other players joining my game.

It happens also on freshly created new worlds.

Reinstalling Minecraft didn't fix the issue.

I added a very short video of the error after generating a new world.

I have the same problem on my i7-4770k (with a gtx 780 ti) and Minecraft 1.1.2 running on an SSD. I typically play with a render distance of 32 chunks but the issue also appears with much lower distances.

On fresh worlds everything runs smooth with cpu loads of just a few percent when idle or just moving around the map very little. Going to unexplored parts of the map the cpu load increases to around 20%, so generation of new chunks doesn't seem to be the issue. However, after playing for some time and exploring more of the map (starting at map sizes around 50Mb) I started to experience cpu load spikes to 100% causing strong lag and decrease of fps for several seconds even when not exploring new parts of the map.

This only appears when I launch the map locally (on two different machines). Exporting the map to a realm results in no lag (although the load on the realm might also spike), so I assume it's no problem with the rendering but rather with loading existing chunks.
