I have had this issue occur in several worlds. Most recently, it happened in a 1.14 realm with 3 villagers inside a 3x3 room with beds and workstations, which I initially thought all died in a raid, but I had a new raid spawn there even though there are no more villagers.

After further investigation, I found out the reason fot the problem. The server I play on has mob griefing disabled, which includes, apparently, picking up items. I set mobgriefing to true, and they were able to collect food and breed like normal. Thanks to all the mods who investigated this issue and sorry for wasting your time with my mistake.

Thanks. I hope that it helps to solve this issue.

To answer Michal, my villagers did have beds, but they are in the spawn chunks, which means that they are always loaded.

I saw on another thread about villagers disappearing that this could be an issue with rendering. I just wanted to mention that later on, after I accidentally summoned in a baby villager, I ran the command /kill @e [type=Minecraft:Villager], and it deleted only the two villagers that I had summoned in. Before they disappeared, I think there were at least 5.

In the same world I later used a command to kill entities and I can confirm that the villagers were in fact gone and not just invisible.

Also, unlike several others commenting on this thread, I am playing in single player and not on a server.

I also got the bad omen effect and triggered a raid in the area where I had kept them, even though there were no more villagers there.

I had several villagers in an enclosed space, including one with a nametag, and they all disappeared. They had a roof to prevent lightning strikes, and there were no spawnable spaces for hostile mobs.

Is there a cloud service which you would recommend? the world file is too large to post directly on this forum.

I am playing in Minecraft 1.14.3 pre-2 and this is still an issue.

I also got this same bug, I escaped by teleporting onto another block.

sorry, Anomie X, you were right, I didn't notice the two nearly identical looking types of rail; I checked it out and I was in fact mistakenly using activator rails instead of powered rails. thanks.

I guess this thread can be closed then, since the problem was mine and not the game's.

Regular powered rails with redstone torches.
It has happened on every world I have generated in 1.8.
