I use my skin in both 1.7.10 and 1.6.4 and it works fine.

But still, avoid using modded profiles. It makes a part or the whole issue invalid.

Ah I see, well I would've liked to not waste iron on two more hoppers, but whatever.

Ah okay, I still think that putting the hopper in any orientation should put the items in their appropriate slots in the furnace.

And if your computer is doing "20 bagillion things at once" then close all programs except Minecraft. If that doesn't help, then my only suggestion is to buy a computer with a better CPU and better RAM.

Might be crashing due to low memory, and I bet you don't have much memory if your computer can only achieve 1 fps, which you shouldn't even be playing Minecraft with that framerate.

Actually, nevermind that. I went up a little further and the fire seemed to be having a slight delay of disappearing when I tried to break the wool block.
