Hi! Please update to the latest version available this week and confirm if this issue still occurs.

Hi! For anyone running into this issue, can you please list the exact set of packs that have been enabled?

A crash indicates that your world is configured in such a way that you are exceeding the available memory of the application. A higher render distance means more chunks are loaded, which uses more memory. The experiment is attempting to prevent this scenario by reducing your render distance when memory is low.

We lowered the threshold at which this occurs last week. But if you are still experiencing crashes, that indicates that you are either performing actions to use excessive amounts of memory (commands, generating lots of chunks, etc.), or your world is configured in a memory intensive manner (multiple Add-Ons stacked, specific heavy Marketplace maps, etc.).

Can you provide any other information about the actions you took leading up to this, or the specific configuration of your world.

Hello! Render Distance being reduced mysteriously during gameplay is caused by an experiment we’re running in an attempt to prevent what would otherwise be a crash. For anyone hitting this scenario can you please confirm:

  1. Were there any resource or behavior packs enabled in the world? If so, can you please comment which ones?

  2. What were you doing when you noticed the render distance lowered? For example: just running around, using commands, another player joined, etc.

  3. Most importantly: When you followed these same steps before this change was introduced, were you experiencing regular crashes?
