Oh my god they actually fixed it. I never thought I'd see the day.

Continues to affect  21w07a and 21w08a

This bug report seems to have been forgotten, and I'm fairly certain that this is no longer an issue, so it should probably be removed.

This is an issue for the latest 1.16 release and snapshot 21w07a. Is the reporter still updating this page? If not, control should be transferred to someone else because this issue hasn't gone anywhere.

This still affects 21w06a,

example: 4434816916984736532 -185 68 219 (Large Biomes)

However, it appears as if the reporter is no longer updating this bug. Is it possible to transfer control over to someone who will still update it to show that it still affects the game?

It continues to affect the latest snapshot, 21w06a. It is a very small mistake and a very simple solution so I'm amazed that it has lasted this long.

Its in 20w21a, and it appears even more frequently when multiple villagers are trying to go through the same door.

I used seed -2374799021989729739 (Buffet, Snowy Tundra), coords are 535 68 14.

Note that this is a very common issue, to reproduce you just need to go to any snowy tundra village (default, large biomes, and buffet) and observe, as this occurs in nearly every single tundra village.

I agree, but I had hoped they would fix this in 1.14, and they only partly did. The only alternative to this being a bug is if it works as intended, and I seriously doubt that they "intended" to have village generate like this. It's a difficult issue no doubt, but I don't think that should stop them. It doesn't seem very realistic for villagers to have built their homes like this.

This is a complex issue, and I can think of several possible solutions:

If the generated paths cannot be traversed, then ladders could generate to allow rapid ascent and descent. (Villagers would have to be programmed to pathfind with ladders).

Have pathways slope up if need be, rather than break away like some sort of tectonic plate.

Prevent villages from spawning in certain areas if the slope is too high.

How is it possible that such a simple bug has lasted so long?

20w19a now, how has this not been resolved?

For this reason the villagers are not self-sufficient at all. I have to stay away from villages at night in survival otherwise my favorite villages will get decimated by zombies.

Ill bet that they were killed overnight. They are pretty bad at staying away from zombies.
