I have the exact same crash every time I exit the Nether through one of my portals (only happens with that one, it exits near a desert village in the overworld, the other portals work fine in both directions).
Maybe it's related to MC-3583? The steps to reproduce are very similar but the error log is not the same.
I have a bad chunk in the nether and sometimes when entering the dimension zombie pigman start raining inside the chunk, FPS drop to 2, all normal mobs (outside the chunk error) freeze and minecarts/buttons/etc. became unusable, after a few minutes the game crashes and, upon reloading, everything is back to normal with the empty chunk but no zombie pigman rain.
I've seen it in 1.6.2 and 1.7.2, here's a screenshot.
That's your opinion, but doesn't make sense to place some biomes in the code and then don't allow them to generate, and you can't get the achievement "adventuring time" because they are missing.
(It's difficult to prove that something doesn't exist in an "infinite" world)
Happens in 1.7 pre-release.
Still present in 1.7 pre-release.
Still happening in 1.7 pre-release, the SP/MP internal merge made impossible and glitchy things that were easy in SP before, and this is another example.
Can't believe Mojang is releasing 1.7 without fixing this being the update about biomes...
How is "biome not generating" a duplicate of "biomes are unbalanced"?
Also MC-31377 doesn't mention extreme hills edge, jungle edge M and mega spruce taiga 160/161.
Bug still present in 1.7 pre-release, swamps are almost impossible to navigate without breaking and lilypads placed in a row are a boat destroyer.

Looked everywhere for duplicates and searched like 200 map issues before posting mine but didn't see it was already reported, not expected the bug to be so old.
Sorry.
Experienced it in one of my worlds, it only rained near a desert shore. Maybe its working as intended but looks really unrealistic and out of place.
Edit: It was 13w41b.
It looks that maps are glitchy this snapshot, I'm experiencing that problem and MC-36062 too.
Anon, it's true that the sound plays due to the fix for that bug, but I believe the glass sound for the Nether portal was a placeholder because being portals impossible to break it was not intented to be reproduced during normal gameplay, so it making the sound now is unexpected behavior as it should have a proper sound or no sound at all.
Anyway this is a duplicate of MC-24070, but Grum should confirm if it's intented before closing that one too.
I still experience it in 1.6.2.
I hope Mojang reads Glenn Tottman's comment because it's the same that lots of players are experiencing since the SP/MP merge...
Thanks for the fast answers.
Why is this resolved as "works as intended"? Did Mojang confirm it? It seems like a bug that only by not taking the smelted product by hand you lose all the XP. Still happens in 1.5.1.
Happens in 1.5.1 too.
Why duplicate? It's not the same crash and even the way to reproduce it's different...
