This issue is not resolved. I still cannot see my friend's world who is on PS4. They still have no friends showing on their friends list. They still cannot see my worlds. We still cannot play together.
adding ports does not resolve. the PS4 needs to be on Type 2 NAT & Xbox must be set to open NAT. My ports are open & my NAT is open. I used Quick Assist to remotely connect to my friends admin page to his router to open ports. His is now Type 2 & we still have the connection error when I try to join him only, he can join me no issues.
I am also still having the issue. My friend on PS4 does not show up on my friends list in game nor do I for him. I can invite him from in game menu & he can join me. The only way I can see his worlds is if we remove each other from our friends list & re-add each other making sure that we accept the request so that we're not "following" each other. I cannot join his world though as I continue to get this same error. The only thing that this "fix" fixed is the ability for him (PS4) to join me (PC).
My friend & I had to remove each other from Xbox friends list, re-add each other (be sure not to just be following them). He was able to join me (I'm on PC) but I could not join him (he's on PS4)
Multiple people have reported this issue over the past 2 years & all the new posts are being marked Duplicate/Resolved & moved to MCPE-36190, an unresolved open ticket. There is a "potential workaround" for NAT settings. What if your NAT is open & so are your friends' network settings? This workaround is irrelevant for people who were able to connect & game with this person 5 minutes before doing the most recent update. How can this issue still be unresolved after 2 years? Obviously something was changed in order for there to be a fix or nobody would be playing with their friends. The fact that the friends' list shows nobody & you cannot add the friend either once you search their GT because they are already your friend. I removed my friend & tried to add him in-game I got to send him the invite (which wasn't an option before because he was on my friends' list) but he never received it. Even though I added him as a friend again his world is not viewable for me to see or join. Additional posts for this same issue:

Before the most recent update, I was in my friend's world who plays on PS4. I am on PC. We both updated our games & ever since then I am unable to connect to his world. I continue to get either Connection Timed Out. Unable to connect to world or Unable to connect to world. He cannot connect to me because the update also removed all my friends & when we attempt to add each other, nothing happens when we press on Add Friend.
@[Mojang] Mega_Spud (Jay Wells) Yes this is STILL an issue on all platforms running the latest version of the game.
