“Tagging” = Attaching a name tag. I edit the name tag with a name and the attributes, then put it on the horse.
Is there somewhere in the GUI that I can determine what version it thinks it is?
Then no, I only play via iOS.
Not that I know of. All of the members who are regular players also play from iOS. Could one of the members have upgraded it without my permission?
I am using 1.8.0 on iOS. Not a beta.
This is the latest version available for iOS.
I encountered this in 1.8.0 while trying to follow a manual fix for another bug.
(just to be clear, I was attempting to open the file locally to ensure the latest edits had been captured by the backup before reuploading, and to ensure the file was not corrupted as it grew in reported size after download)
Auldrick, I’m trying to use your fix (download/upload file) and I’m getting an error indicating Realms is using a different version than my iOS client (which is up to date per the App Store at 1.8.0).
Any ideas?

Auldrick, the two bugs are definitely linked. Reproduce the bug via the original steps and then run up against the invisible wall and save/quit while up against it. It happens about half the time, so whatever bad map value is characterizing the other bug is somehow being triggered by frozen chunks.
Unfortunately, had it not been for this thread discussing both bugs, I would not have known I was generating at world spawn at all: it seems to do that in between when I save/quit and log back in. I spawn in my last bed location immediately after logging in and if I open the chat I can see the death notice. It doesn’t even show in the top corner about half the time.
Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems everyone with the other bug and only the other bug gets to see that they’re at world spawn.
@Belmeeezy Thank you so much! I found our stuff there at the world spawn. I would never have thought to look there had you not mentioned it.
ETA: The more I think about this the weirder it is, because after dying in connection with this bug, I respawned at my bed, not at the world spawn. Why would my stuff be at world spawn when I hadn’t been there in what must be weeks, and always had a bed as my spawn location? I don’t die until after I’ve relogged in, so this leads me to believe that I’m somehow being assigned a bad coordinate value when I’m near (or in, by virtue of a prior reboot) the frozen chunk.
Additionally, I have found so far that I don’t die if I make sure to move away from the frozen chunk enough before saving/restarting. I suspect I was logging off within the spawn radius of the frozen chunk whenever I died on log in.
I am having this problem as well, mostly while riding very fast horses but sometimes when just running. It seems I need to cross at least a zoom level 2/4 map to trigger it. I’m seeing the bug multiple times per day now as I’ve been traveling back and forth between two houses that are approx. seven of the zoom level 2/4 maps away from each other.
It seems to correspond with server backup times and the map chunk acts like it has been locked into read only mode. It can not be accessed, only seen. Most recently I discovered you can see enemies, and they are usually stopped mid stride and jittering. Unfortunately, that is only their skins as their invisible doppelgängers come attack you on the accessible chunks. When I encounter the issue I used to just log off and back on and that would usually resolve it.
One time, during a two player game, after I restarted my copy of MCPE, the other player was still stuck and had to reboot theirs too, in order to get into the frozen map chunk. I can’t be fully sure, but saving the game on that chunk shortly after unlocking it with a reboot seems to result in a random death when you log back in and your stuff being missing from the place you purportedly died. (Similar to falling from a high place when you save on a bed, but no bed required and the message simply says you died.)
Most recently, under the backup theory, I stuck around for one of the map chunk freezes (but not too close since an invisible creeper got me) and discovered it resolves on its own.
Every time it happened since I realized it was acting like a locked database has been during one of the hourly server backups. While I do appreciate backups, I’d rather not keep getting blown up by invisible creepers and having my save location “forgotten”.
It has happened to 3 horses that I can tell.
The hearts are not there, but it seems they can still be restored by feeding. And if the horse takes a small amount of damage it seems the hearts stay unchanged until it takes enough damage to get it down to under 13.
After the 1.8 update the horse I originally posted about went back to 15, but the next time I logged in was back to 13.
I've bred this horse at least 30 times, potentially as many as 50. It was the only one with good stats I had for a long while. I keep the colts in the pen with the parents until they've fully grown.
I keep them all in stables and realized he was on stone, so I went and replaced all the stone with dirt which then became grass. No difference though.
