Yes, This is still present. (I am the one who posted the Chorus Fruit thing on Reddit.) What you have to do is find an area at the top of the nether where a 32x32 area is full. You can mine up to the top and fill in the area behind you. Then, once at the top, when you eat the chorus fruit it has no choice but to teleport you on top of the nether.

Can confirm. Even though his method is wrong due to the change in NBT data, custom potions do not seem work in my knowledge in 1.9. See the "Potions" section at this link for the change. http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/15w31a#Items_2

I cannot confirm this. It seems as though you are confused and do not know that snowballs cause knockback which slightly throws mobs in the air.
